The New Orleans Saints are reportedly bringing a familiar name back to their coaching staff -- Tulane quarterbacks coach Mike Neu. Neu confirmed he is joining the Saints' staff, according to The Times-Picayune.

Though the job wasn't specified, Neu would seem to be a natural fit as the quarterbacks coach -- a job that was vacated when Joe Lombardi left last month to become offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions.

Neu, 42, was an obvious candidate for the job as a member of the Saints' “extended family” at Tulane, where he worked under former Saints receivers coach Curtis Johnson. Neu also served as a college scout for the Saints from 2009-2011. Before that, he served as the head coach of New Orleans' Arena Football League team -- the VooDoo -- from 2004-2008, when the franchise was owned and operated by Saints owner Tom Benson and the Saints' front office.

Solid staff member. I remember watching him with the Voodoo. Players seemed to really like the guy.

Process it. In 2 seasons he will be done with his rookie contract and will go the way of Chase Daniel.

Unless you are confident that 1. He is the QB of the future and 2. Drew only has 2 years left... Even though his contract is through 2016.
