Smart move, love his game but that's a big cap hit for a role player. Would like to see him getting more handoffs.

I see him more of a special teams return type of guy. Also coming in after PT or Ingram have bruised up the line run right freaking past them.
However we got this guy named Drew Brees that throws for 330+ yards per game.

he was not productive as a returner at all this year: low averages, misplayed a couple of punts in the second Carolina game, even had an uncharacteristic fumble
I love having him back at a discount, but he need to be more involved in the rotation

I was a fan of cutting him lose with his current cap hit, but happy to see him stay at a reduced amount of cap...

Sproles has consistently lead this team in Yards gained since he arrived in New Orleans.

Every Year. Most Yards Gained. Even 2013.

+1 but I think ScottF was specifically speaking of Sproles on kickoffs & punt coverage rather than his production in the back field.

Nothing Sproles can do about coverage and a lack of blocking or kick offs that land in the endzone.

When you are ranked 7th in the league in Fair Catches it speaks volumes for coverage. His ave punt return yardage is better than Patrick Peterson.

Kick/Punt returners are better when its their only role in my opinion.

He knows the system works well in it.

Drew Brees loves Sproles... So I don't think there was ever any chance that Sproles would be cut/traded.

Great news, yeah Sproles' production was down but he still has the ability to be a difference maker (see Miami game). Great to see him help the team out too, it'll all be worth it when we get him that ring next year.

Idk, I have never really been impressed with his return skills. I can't remember the last time he ripped one off. I do however think he has value in the way he is used on offense. He was having a great start this season. IDK what happened, maybe line play, maybe injury but he did quiet down towards the end. I think he still has a couple of years of serious play left in him though.

He was injured a lot last season, maybe even more than we knew or he let on. I would love the move.

We may be better off then the teams he's played for, but we looked lot better with him as a decoy then Sproles. Nobody is scared if Sproles splits out wide at receiver.
