spekaking of hearts... doesn\'t Reeves have a bum ticker?...
I think that coaching this team would probably kill him in under two weeks...

If he has a bad ticker then we can cross hiim off the list. I certainly wouldn\'t want the death of a coach on our hands. Expecially since he may haunt us forever -- wait we are already haunted. Still -- I like him because we could get him now -- and I think having him for the rest of the season would really help next year. Otherwise we bring in a new coach and he needs the year to evaluate the players. Plus -- I think he would be a good fit for our team.

I dont think bringing him in would help. Look at Parcells, and Gibbs, while their teams don\'t have the talent of our bench let alone our team, I think that the old school coaches have been left behind by the game today. I think we need someone young (somewhat).

well..thats sort of backwards...the plan should be made before the job is given..they have to know what sort of things he would do with the team..what kind of offense to run...name coordinators..things like that...but..reeves is a great idea to name...however..i\'m not so sure he wouldn\'t make a solid gm?..maybe?....he knows football..i have no idea how buisness savvy he is...but..i think someone with that kind of experience..and proven winning formula..is a definite upgrade..and he did coach in this division not too long ago..so he may have some fresh ideas for some old problems..

I think Dan Reeves is a class act, but questions regarding his health and simply his age lean me toward a no on this one. If Haslett goes, the new coach-hiring is a real tightrope. There have been many names thrown around on the board: old coaches like Jimmy Johnson, Norv Turner, Dave Wannstedt, and even Jerry Glanville have surfaced as re-cycled head coach candidates. Fact is, if any of those guys were really that good (ex. Turner) or had any desire to keep coaching (ex. Johnson), they\'d still be on the sidelines somewhere. On the other hand, alot of young bucks have surfaced as well: Nick Saban, Tommy Tuberville, etc. I wonder if, among available head coaches, there is a \"happy medium\" between too old to be reliable and too young and unproven?

I don\'t like the idea of a college coach, either. But I\'m still putting my dark horse bid in for Tuberville. If, for nothing else, that he\'s a talented coach we actually have some hope of landing...

This is a bit tangental but:
Do you think Archie Manning could be our quarterbacks coach, or has the position changed too much? I know it would never happen, but wouldn\'t that be cool.
Also I think Fred McAfee might be a good special teams assistant.

There seem to be two parts of this thread.

First, I would rather not be known as \"the team that killed Dan Reeves\". Let\'s let Dan go on into the hall of fame in peace.

Second, I think that we should totally clean house with the front office and coaching staff. I would rather not have anyone here who knows about \"the same old saints\". Hiring people from outside the organization who aren\'t tarred by it\'s history could really do a lot to turn our culture around.

I\'d like to get someone out of the Pittsburgh front office for GM, like Colbert or Whaley. The Steelers do a great job drafting and developing players and they are almost always a good team. Or maybe Heckert from Philly as GM, the Eagles manage the cap better than just about anyone.

As for coaches, I\'d like:
1. Crennel (DC)-- Patriots
2. Childress (OC) -- Eagles
After these guys in no particular order I think it would be worth looking at Mike Smith (Jax DC), Cam Cameron (SD OC), Carthon (Dal OC).

I also think it might be worth looking at Mike Tice if he doesn\'t get a big $$$ contract with the vikings. I\'m not sure I want Tice, but I\'d interview him anyway.

No thank you I was getting sick of seeing him. Geez it is about time Atlanta fired him. Reeves is more experienced at losing anyhow.
