Increasing cap,older vets on the roster.
Looks like the plan is too win now and pay the cost during the transition from QBs

I've been stalking this site for about a year now but this signing made me just go ahead and join the Black and Gold online family. Crazy signing with Byrd!!!! Yelling Who Dat loud and proud from South Carolina!!!

With the new rookie contracts, the teams have the options of giving them a 5th year of their rookie contract. I would be surprised if Mickey Loomis doesn't exercise this option to keep Cam on the rookie contract just one more year.

Byrd? Didn't see that one coming. Great pickup if Loomis can find the cap room to stay solid at other positions.

Yeah. We might be in for a rough few years when Brees retires, but if we can pull in another SB before then it just might become worth it.

Maybe not that bad

If Drew is replaced in the draft the QB will be under the rookie pay scale and will not be earning big money so the savings on Brees will be used to pay others.
