John Clayton say saints interested in Brandon Browner

Im not sure i'm all for this move with his suspension but it says the saints have interest in bringing in another corner which i'm fully supportive of

Browner expected to meet with Skins and Pats.. Nothing showing Saints yet.

Clayton has issues with accuracy. I would wory about it when there is a second source. I am about to flip on NFLSirus and see if I hear anything

Do we really want to inherit the PED nick name like we gave Seattle?

This cats been caught twice.

What would we be Ped de lis? BountyPeds? Between Vicodin and PEDs we would have the DEA crawling all up in our locker room.

To be fair he was hit because of weed not PED's. Still not the type of guy I'd like to have on the Saints.

I have mixed feelings about him, but he is an extreme physical specimen. Once again, if the price is right, why not? He just better keep his $#!+ together...

I'm all for him. That's a big ass corner. We can press the hell out of teams now. Let our safeties protect over the top, and let Gallette, Jordan, Hicks, and Butler apply the pressure.

It would be nice to have a big body to cover the big wrs in our division like V-Jax, Julio, and maybe Hakeem Nicks in Carolina.... :-)

I seem to remember Aqib Talib being in a similar situation a couple years ago. Look at him now....

He has been dinged on both.

2012 - PED
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner will begin his four-game suspension this week for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Browner chose not to appeal the positive test, reportedly for Adderall, and will miss the final four games of the regular season.

I don't think money is the problem here. At this point he can't ask for big contract. His 2013 salary was 500-600K.

Cool! Sign him to 3/4 of a contract and make him pee in a cup once a day till the end of his contract. If he failed he pays it all back + 25%.

Not for me
That money could go towards re-signing Strief for a couple of years

If he did sign, I'm sure Ryan and Payton would keep him in-line :bng:

I think that resigning Strief (or a comparable OT) goes without saying.....we're hurting on the o-line at the moment.

I don't care about weed but if it's peds, I'd rather the Saints pass.

But that would be a heck of a defensive backfield.

I'm just stoked they are looking to upgrade at the #2 corner spot. If its Browner fine, I like the Turnover abilities Peanut Tillman could bring but his age is a issue. DRC wouldn't be a bad one But doubt we could afford him.

Perhaps Loomis and the coaches don't feel quite the same? If they felt we were hurting, they probably would have tried a little harder to shore it up... Just maybe they like what we had in backups and gonna give them the opportunity to start

Might be a good idea to add Browner. He has a lot of height and muscle to work with.

If we want a big corner, we can just draft Keith Mcgill out of Utah.. I'd rather have him than a PED-ridden player like Browner.

I would love to get this guy in the draft. I think he's gonna be a good one

Sounds like a helluva risk, which doesn't sound very much like Loomis and Payton at all. Even if they are content with letting Harris and Lelito take DLP and Strief's spots as the starter, now we have squat for backups/contingencies. A dollar to a donut says that an OL gets signed before the draft. We're too shallow there for it to not happen.

Re: John Clayton say saints interested in Brandon Browner

I think Payton only deals with weed heads or druggies if they show REAL effort and REAL desire to turn their lives around -- like Anthony Hargrove, or whats-his-face, the pre-Jed Collins fullback who had all the DUI's on previous teams, whose name I can't remember at the moment. But you have to be really affirmative and show them that you are ready to change. I don't think they take off-the-field drug issues lightly, in the Payton locker room.

I was just typing the same thing. Totally agree.

Re: John Clayton say saints interested in Brandon Browner

Love it!!!

Big athletic corner that will come cheap because of the character issues he has.

Listen folks our locker room and team leadership is much like New England's. We have the ability to take these players who have perceived character issues and turn them around! Byrd would be a great character guy for him to be around.

If we land him we will have the best secondary bar none! Even Seattle's DBs won't match ours.

Get it done Mickey!

Cutting Patrick Robinson saves $1.4ml,if Browner is signed i would imagine he he on the way out

Resign Strief? Nah. Let him go. Charles Brown would be fine at RT.

It's time to get this defense dominant.

It would help out if Bunkley or even Colston would restructure. Grubbs and Evans are a few others that could help out in that department as well those are the biggest contracts besides Brees's

Charles Brown is an UFA, too... I thought that Coach Payton made it pretty clear that we have moved on from that project, and I'm pretty sure that Brown would want a change of scenery at this point as well. Strief obviously isn't getting much attention in free agency. He graded out well last year. It shouldn't cost us more than $2M a year to keep him around for a couple more years until we have his replacement better groomed.

They dont test very good for PEDs in the NFL anyway.

True.. Joe Morgan stayed healthy long enough to get a DUI and Payton game him a second chance to get injured.
