Re: Saints re-sign Zach Strief

Titans signed RT Michael Oher to a four-year, $20 million contract with $9.5 million guaranteed.
We have to believe Ozzie Newsome is chuckling at this one. Oher, 28 in May, never got better during his five-year stint in Baltimore, struggling mightily in spot duty at left tackle and performing at a well-below-average clip on the right side. He graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 68 tackle in 2013, among 76 qualifiers. Oher was a dead-last 76th in run blocking with eight sacks allowed. He'll replace David Stewart at right tackle in Nashville. For the second consecutive offseason, the Titans are having a head-scratching free agency period under scuffling GM Ruston Webster. (At least they "landed" Charlie Whitehurst.) Mar 14 - 6:37 PM
And from the Ravens board...
LOL - They're bashing Oher already in Tenn and they haven't even seen him yet. Here's some comments on their board. Gotta hand it to them, they know their football.

1. He's a penalty machine. ILMAO

2. He'll never play out his contract. LOL

3. Rotoworld has him ranked at the very bottom for RTs with most sacks
allowed - 8. LOL

4. He has to be better than Stewart last year.

5. The Ravens are laughing over this one.

6. This is the second straight year the Titans had a head scratching
free agent period.

Aren't you glad we have Ozzie? EVen Decosta is better than their guy and he's the one who said WE HAVE OUR BOOKENDS. ILMAO
In a word - TECHNIQUE or lack thereof.

You said it many times, short arms and wing span for LT and feet not fast enough at both positions. Doesn't use hands like a stun gun.
Like others have said, Oher is a super nice guy, and I wish him the best. However, I am glad the Ravens are going in another direction at RT. Oher's technique never improved the entire time he was here, and he physically could not dominate like he did in college. By comparison, Yanda improved steadily(other than being injured), so you can't put that on the coaching staff. As nice as Oher is, he's clearly not the most intelligent guy out there, and the constant penalties at the very worst times, or blown assignments resulting in sacks displayed that.
And there are hundreds more just like these.

No mistake about it, Strief does not look the part of a good OL. He doesn't seem to have muscles at all, he's slow and clumsy. He looks like the guy who serves you at the Taco Bell drive-in at 2 a.m. But he gets the job done because he's smart, tough and country boy strong. I like that in an offensive lineman.

No doubt; I could care-less what he looks like or if he is too slow to get ahead of a screen. He helps keep Drew upright for the most part and that's all that matters

Stats, grades, numbers.... Those pesky things do not matter. Some people rely on the untrained eye. ;P

Like Larry the cable guy in a museum of fine art.

Oher over Strief?

You know what I love about this deal besides the fact it's one hell of a bargain, Strief doesn't care. He wanted to remain a Saint and it showed.

It's helpful information, but I wouldn't use PFF as the barometer on a player's resume...

He's back and it's good and we get a couple more years of watching him woof down a Crispy Thin Catfish Poboy on the Big Screen at New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood Company...
Nobody was knocking down his door because he was rejecting other teams (like Miami), not because he isn't a great player.

Another geat signing by Loomis.

Doesn't matter if PFF or ESPN is saying that, I don't see how that statement is debatable. Honestly, Oher is only a big name because they made a movie about him. He's not that good of a tackle.

Re: Saints re-sign Zach Strief

Much to be said for continuity...particularly along the o line as we all know. One less thing and a very good player to boot.
