Rafael Bush Signs Offer Sheet

Are you serious!?

Re: Rafeal Bush Signs Offer Sheet

I wonder if the recent signings of safeties got Bush to thinking about his current unemployment.

Re: Rafael Bush Signs Offer Sheet

He was originally selected by them if I remember correctly.

We may not have the funds to match

No return picks on him right?

They do have a glaring hole at free safety and all the good free agents are signed... I guess this is a sneaky way to fill a need and try to stick it to us. I would hate to see him go.

No picks, only the option of matching the offer.

Probably why they signed Ball yesterday.

I wanted this guy to stay with us. Even more than JG. Damn. they are getting great player. Don't believe we will match. And yes, if BPA in first round is S then draft one!

Yep, perhaps the offer preceded the signing of Ball, meaning Ball is basically Bush's replacement.

I doubt it with Byrd and Vaccaro starting.

I dont see it either but if he is the best player then maybe.
Also could explain why Champ Bailey has been to visit, cover at FS and CB

no chance in hell. We have 2 stud starters, just signed Ball and Bailey is in house. No way they waste a rd one on a safety

Re: Rafael Bush Signs Offer Sheet

That sucks, Bush was becoming a key part of our D, I still hope we match the offer sheet

Re: Rafael Bush Signs Offer Sheet

I'm gonna have to see what they offered him before I can say that I hope we match it. Bush is good but he's not great and the price has to be right.

Its not a done deal yet, we can counter and I think we will.

Rumor is 1.5 to 2 million.

Instead of Quddus and Bush replacing Jenkins and Harper we have Byrd and Vaccaro. I'll take it :)

Harper and Jenkins took more criticism than they deserved but wow, Vaccaro/Byrd is a pretty good upgrade at the position.

Let's just hope that Byrd plays to his contract and not looking for just the big pay-day

The rumor over at the evil empire is 2.2 million/season.

Thsts tough because we really can't afford it but its probably close to his market value.

Thats what happens when you over-pay too many players, you eventually lose a couple good ones to other teams.

Oh well, we'll survive. Its nowhere near as bad as losing Nicks to the Bucs.

Of course, we may be in the process of restructuring several players (cough***Bunkley***cough) so we might just match their stupid puny desperate grasp at NFC relevance.

Re: Rafael Bush Signs Offer Sheet

Looking back, anyone think we were we really trying to keep him? We tender him low end with no comp, and below his market value

$2 mill might be too much for a backup safety this year, but could we have kept him at 1.7 or so?

How about you stop wearing another man's jersey. Thats what girlfriends are for.

Rip off "BUSH" and have "SKYMIKE" sewn on the back for about $10.00..

Problem solved.

He got noticed around the league for bringing the wood in our last game.

I was thinking the same thing. I read the Saints tender was the lowest allowed by the CBA.

I liked him, he brought a toughness to the defensive backfield, but maybe the coaches knew something we didn't see.

ChrisXVI 04-03-2014 08:35 PM

Re: Rafael Bush Signs Offer Sheet

Jairus Byrd makes Bush completely expendable. Byrd can be the single high safety while Vaccaro covers TE's or slot receivers. I think we used a lot of three safety looks last season because Rob Ryan did a terrific job of utilizing what he had. With the Byrd signing and the talk of simplifying Vaccaro's role it looks like we'll have a much more traditional secondary.

Re: Rafael Bush Signs Offer Sheet

I'll be the first to say that I wanted Bush to stay in the black and gold for 2014. He has played well under Rob's tutelage & is not afraid to bring the wood... down right nasty as times. We can never have enough dawgs on D. With the recent release of Decoud, Bush will get his chance to shine as a starter.

If we lose him to the dirty birds, oh well I think we are still in good hands with KV, Byrd and Ball.

If we lose bush, I will be upset. If we lose bush to the failclowns, I will be pissed. I really like this guy, and I would like to see him join forces with Vac/Byrd.
