2014 NFC South Predictions

1. Saints - The Saints have proven that even through seasons with obstacles we are always in the run, 2013 was 11-5 and we have only improved in personnel. In 2012 we had the worst defense in history and swept the Bucs and ended the Falcons undefeated streak.

2. Buccaneers - Lovie has his work cut out for him but he is a formidable coach and I do not seem him not making this team a lot better. He also is very familiar with Rivera and i see the Bucs giving the panthers hell .

3. Panthers
- Losses of Smith, Mitchell, Munnerlyn, Lafel, Ginn. Three of those are receivers and I do not see Cam Newton being able to make something of that in one off season.

4. Falcons - I do not see them recovering much from last year. They have becomes dysfunctional even with their weapons. On paper bringing in Steve Jackson should have rounded them off but it didnt.

Saints
Buccs
Falcons
Panthers

If the clowns can get there offensive line sorted in draft/remaining FA then they might push past the buccs. Injuries will be key, White and Jones are often broken snd no more Tony G could be huge.

Re: 2014 NFC South Predictions

Falcons 3rd, Panthers 4th.

The Falcons issues were all in the trenches. They addressed that pretty well this off-season. They'll be back to 10 wins.

The Panthers won't smell 8 wins. Their implosion is predictable.

Re: 2014 NFC South Predictions

I couldn't dare predict this early. If the Falclowns could get help on that O-Line they could be in the hunt. Just because I hate them doesn't mean they are going to stink.

The Bucs are the dangerous team. Good defense and McCown gives them a solid starter for a few years. Pretty good run game also.

The Panthers are interesting. Every year we have a team that looks like they are getting worse and end up being better. For some strange reason I think the Panthers are going to be better than imagined.

The Saints rule. Period. But it won't be easy. And depends on the offense getting back in shape.

Not sure about Atlanata being done with their rut. Their o-line was only part of the problem, their 27th ranked defense has yet to be addressed.

and.....? Do you see any team in the NFC South 1-2 players away from dramatically changing the outcome?

Atlanta - Think 1 more WR is going to make them a better coached team? Think 2 rookies will make their defense top 10?
Carolina - " same as Atlanta for WRs, and Newton isn't getting any better.
Buccs - They have the most hope of the 3 but Lovie hasn't coached in a few years and they are a dysfunctional franchise.

Atlanta and Carolina lost their go-to weapons.

1 draft class doesn't take you from zero to hero over night.

Atlanta lost their go-to? Roddy is their go-to in big games. Julio in games where he isnt being as defended. They lost their safety blanket in Tony though.

Schedule comes out this week then we can see how this shakes up, wouldnt be surprised if we went to Atlanta on Thursday Night again.

I've always considered Gonzalez their go to guy. But either way, they lost a key player for 3rd down conversions.

BTW: Isn't Julio a free-agent after this season? Oh why yes he is...:p

Really? Nice thought but I can not handle the endless chatter I will need to endure about the 1972 'fins.

Difficult to be the goto guy from the whirlpool which is where Roddy spent most of last season.

Gonzo was there goto guy, has been for years. How many final second Ryan to Gonzo in the endzone have you seen? Vaccaro stopped one last year.

We must have just have a different definition of "goto guy".
Safety blanket = Goto guy. The person you goto when you must get something done.

Yours seems to be the one that they goto the most, for 2013 that was Harry Douglas.

Okay, safety blanket means tightend/stopgap. I remember when someone broke down the falcons-49ers game in NFCCG and a person pointed out Ryan usually throws to Roddy in big situations. Instead he threw to Tony but Tony was somewhat defended as well by SF's scheme. I also remember in 2012 the first drive in game one with us where Ryan threw deep to White that led to the falcons going up 7-0. Also against teams like cardinals, raiders, panthers(the first one), broncos, it was Roddy that outperformed Jone in receiving. Also Roddy had the bigger stats against Oakland and Arizona.

Saints 13-3
Falcons 12-4
Buccaneers 12-4
Panthers 8-8

Saints are steady
Bucs shock the world
Falclowns are healthy and back

Panthers are the turds of the south and learn a lesson about losing their entire WR corp.

saints sweep the division.

NFC south tops in the NFL.

I can agree with that. I might swap the Falcons and Panthers as the Panthers have literally no one to throw to. They will get some WR talent in the draft, but they will have their growing pains this year.

Re: 2014 NFC South Predictions

Saints first
Bucs, Panthers and Clowns tied for second.

Lovie has some talent on D, but he has a way to go with his offense. Panthers have a running game, but I don't know that old school'll play in the South these days. The Clowns... well.... I'm gonna miss Mike Smith in '15.

Man I love threads with poles.
