Running back Pierre Thomas is accustomed to doubts. Too small and not fast enough, analysts told him all the way to the NFL.

Those criticisms prepared Thomas for this offseason: The Saints placed him on the trading block but never moved him, creating the potential of animosity in his relationship with the team.

So far, it hasn’t.

Instead, Thomas enters next week’s veteran minicamp ready to accomplish what he feels he has always done — prove doubters wrong, 1 yard at a time.

“I just sat back and waited to see what they wanted to do,” Thomas, 29, said this week about the possibility of being traded.

He just extended until 2016, we traded Sproles, and he caught 77 passes last year.
What exactly is he fighting for?

Don't expect much of a run game again this year. So PT will play his usual role. Besides, it isn't like they brought in any competition.

Re: RB Pierre Thomas fighting for his Saints future

The UDFA Tim Flanders is one to watch. I completely disagree that we will not get yards running this year. We have a nice quartet there and need to see what Cadet and the UDFA can do.

Timothy Flanders*(RB10)

HT:*5'9"*WT:*207LBS.

POSITION:*RB

SCHOOL:*Sam Houston St.

ARM LENGTH:*30 1/4"

HANDS:*9 1/4"

Overview

Was a two-time Southland Player of the Year and three-time AP FCS All-American. He is the only player in conference history with more than 5,000 rushing yards and more than 400 points scored. He is also the first player to lead the conference in four consecutive seasons. 2013: Was second-team AP FCS All-American and first-team All-Southland. Recorded third consecutive season with 1,000-plus rushing yards. Had 170 yards and two touchdowns against Texas A&M. 2012: Was Southland Player of the Year, third-team AP FCS All-American and first-team All-Southland. He set a school record with 10 100-yard games. 2011: Was Southland Player of the Year, second-team AP FCS All-American and first-team All-Southland. 2010: Southland Freshman of the Year and first-team All-Southland pick. Led conference with 948 rushing years, and set school record with six 100-plus yard games in a row. 2009: Redshirted at Kansas State. High school: Was Daily Oklahoman's Big All-City "Offensive Player of the Year" as a senior in 2008.

"Two receivers to the left, Garcon to the right. Manning in the shotgun, puts Collie in motion. Looks in his direction...it's picked off! It's picked off! It's Tracy Porter again! He's runnin' free! He's gonna go all the way!

Insurance policy if Ingram or Robinson can't get it done. I understand it. I just hope the horrible one back per play rotation ends.
