I don\'t think being 2nd in sacks on a defense that may end up the absolute worst in NFL history says anything.

But thats just me.

I don\'t think anyone wants to get rid of Howard yet, some just don\'t want to pay him top 5 DE money.

howard can stay with a huge pay cut. besides that i dont think between this year and last year the guy has played a full season. hes getting to be like cleeland. steps on the field and is hurt. no way i would pay him anything like hes getting paid this year

Howard is trade bait... He\'ll be one of the first moves that is going to be made, Will Smith will take his spot.

What do you think you get for a defensive end who has missed peices of the last two seasons? I dont think his trade value will be that high. Everyone knows what kind of money they will have to pay to keep him, and with the injury concerns I think they will lose him with no compensation.

Yeah, I think we\'re stuck with Howard. He\'s a bum but not a complete bum. Maybe on a stronger defense, even Howard will step up his game.

I agree that Howard has been disappointing much of the time, but consider the case of Javon Kearse. He had alot of trouble with injuries during his tenure with the Titans, but the Eagles were still willing to not only take a chance on him, but pay him top dollar. He has rewarded them with seven sacks and countless QB pressures.

I\'m not trying to compare Owward and Kearse, but even a mid-level DE goes for a premium in the NFL. Look at what Seattle paid for Grant Wistrom.
