According to ESPN.com, Graham's snaps were divided the following way:
45 percent as a slot receiver,
33 percent as an in-line tight end
22 percent as a wide receiver.

So Graham set up as a TE in 78% of snaps then

Where is the Slot defined as a TE position?

If that's the case, then Eddie Royal, Wes Welker, Tavon Austin, Dexter McCluster, Jericho Cotchery should all be designated TEs too. Jimmy Graham lined up wide out more often than any of them.

Re: Result of the Graham Hearing

There is no such position as a slot receiver.

The "Slot Receiver" is anyone lining up wide of the line and inside of the WR.
RB/TE and WR can receive in what is regarded as the slot.

Look at the link below show Sproles lining up in the 'slot' and then Graham doing the same. Neither are WR but lining up a few yards off the traditional position that a TE/RB would line up to get them a clean go
The wording and tags need changed but that should have no impact on this case as it stands.

Utah_Saint likes this.

"Two receivers to the left, Garcon to the right. Manning in the shotgun, puts Collie in motion. Looks in his direction...it's picked off! It's picked off! It's Tracy Porter again! He's runnin' free! He's gonna go all the way!

If I'm doing a job and 78% of the time I'm doing the job of a higher salary employee well then hello desk audit! Time for me to get paid.

I could see this forcing the NFL to create more defined roles of players outlined in contracts, like really defined year to year. Sproles could have been a WR as well.

I'm confused (it happens a lot more than I care to admit) how can you add the slot snaps to the TE position but in the next post explain that slot doesn't define a position?

IF Sproles (or any running back) lined up in a receivers position (slot or wide) more than in the backfield and IF he were being franchised as a RB, you can bet dollars to donuts he'd appeal a RB designation, it's a difference of 2.5 million a year. That's a heck of a negotiating position. He'd be crazy if he didn't.
