Saints Heading to Greenbrier

If all goes as planned, the nearly 950-mile move from the New Orleans Saints' Airline Drive headquarters to training camp at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., will occur with the same precision and timing that's come to be expected from the Saints' offense in recent years.

The goal, said Saints Administrative Director Jay Romig, who, along with director of operations James Nagaoka has been tasked with managing the logistics of the move, is to allow the players and coaches the opportunity to become the best football team they can be from the moment they arrive in West Virginia.

"We have to have everything ready to go," Romig said. "(Camp) is just for three weeks, but it's probably three of the most important weeks of the season for the organization and the guys trying to make the team."
Romig, who's been with the Saints for 39 years, said moving the team away from New Orleans for an extended period of time is a monumental task, albeit one the Saints have considerable experience with.

Just came back from WV. That is some pretty part of the country, but very remote to get to... unless you have your own airplane. The hill/mountains ought to help training and conditioning. But don't feel sorry for your Saints as accommodations are pretty cool.

Everything about a camp like that has to coast loads and loads of money. Cool read!

On a historical note the hotel formerly doubled as the US Government's bomb shelter for WWIII. They have tours of the shelter. There's a "secret" door right in the middle of public everything, just out in the open and no one figured it out. Something non- football related but interesting to add to your Saints trip anyways.

The one picture with the ominous mountains in background reminds me of the movie "The Shining"...

History Channel did a biopic of the location and how it was the fall back site where the government would reconstitute in the event the Cold War would develop open hostilities...

The site selection has started a love fest between Mike Florio, esq and Coach Payton...

We could have camp in Frontierland as long as we have Lombardi Gras at the end of the season...

I was near there as well at the end of June. 55 degree summer nights take getting used to, but hell of a lot better than 95 degree two-a-days
