For those that are unhappy with the current coaching staff , all is not lost .

Mueller might be the answer , all he has to do is create a title and add it to head coach and Haslett could bolt to Jacksonville or Seattle or where ever . Haslett wanted to work with Mueller again and with the current setbacks and fan displeasure he might just be open to it now .

I\'m sure Tom Benson will not just let him leave like that. We can dream though...

If it were that easy Tampa would not have given up a #1 pick for Gruden.

Coaches are allowed to leave if they move up higher on the ladder , not if they parallel move . Gruden was a parallel move from Oakland to Tampa Bay . Coach/manager is a higher move .

Follow up information on Holmgrem , FW tex .

Holmgren has said he would like a position in which he would be general manager as well as coach.

Holmgren, 50, coached the Packers to victory two years ago in the Super Bowl. He has one more year left on his contract in Green Bay, where he earned $2 million this season.

Holmgren has until Jan. 25 to decide whether to leave Green Bay.

If the Seahawks sign Holmgren to become their coach and GM, it will cost the franchise a second-round draft choice.

Mueller kicks in a number 2 and he can have Haslett . According to what happened when Holmgren left while under contract for Seattle ....

saintz08, you have me confused now. If that was the scenario when Holmgren left GB then he took a step up in jobs yet Seattle still had to pay with a pick.

I am not certain but I think head coaching contracts are different than the coord/asst coaches contracts. I don\'t think the \"step up\" clause is in them. A team can always negotiate a settlement but I don\'t think they can flat out offer a \"step up\" and steal a coach.

Tampa could have easily given Gruden a \"GM of game day preparation\" title if it was that easy.

It was a non-negotiated pick .

Green Bay was awarded Seattles second round pick as more of a compensatory pick . Something like losing a restricted free agent , but the stakes are a little higher when the Head Coach is involved , Taglipew pulled that one off . Gruden was traded for picks and 8 million dollars , Holmgren walked and Taglipew awarded .

Holmgren, who took the Green Bay Packers to the last two Super Bowls, told team president Bob Whitsitt yesterday morning that he was accepting the job and canceled trips to Baltimore and Philadelphia for job interviews.
He called the Packers to tell them they\'d have to find a new coach to work with Green Bay GM Ron Wolf.
Holmgren was accompanied to Seattle by his wife, Kathy, and the youngest of four daughters, Gretchen, a high school student. He said he reached a decision to accept the Seattle job Thursday night after having dinner with Allen.

Seems easy , you go and have dinner , call the GM in the morning and say \" I have a new title now , find a new coach \" . Haslett could be Head Coach / Asst. GM .
