No way you can get into the playoffs now. The end of the season is pretty much now. No playoffs for 8-8 teams. 8-8 is even a push for the saints. The Saints have only managed 2 game winning streaks followed bye a loss since Brooks took the helm. In 2002 they managed 2, 3 game wiiining streaks but thats it. The question I would like to know are we going to keep a team to under 20 points this year. I do beleive we beat Dallas this week. I hope we can beat the bucs there the only team in are division not to sweep us yet. I really don't want to see this happen. Dallas has not beat Saints since 94 and has played the Saints 3 times since than in cluding Jake Delhomes first start in the NFL in 99 31-24 Saints.

I am hoping they lose out. That is how bad I want them to get Derrick Johnson or Ahmed Brooks, unless Watson & Bockwoldt show me that they can stop the run in these last games....then I will be hoping for either Marlin Jackson or Antrelle Rolle....I might be the only one who think Marlin play the corner better than Antrelle

Rolle would be great. I\'m not familiar with Marlin Jackson though. Rolle would be great on special team duties too. I think we need more linebackers duties though than cornebacks though. Both are a weakness though. The main point though if you cannot stop a team from rushing 100 yards a game your not going to win many games.

Oh, I\'ll tell ya why we can\'t fire him now... because he is going to be the coach next year, duh. LOL. I so see this happening even though I am for sweeping change. Look at it this way if he is the coach next year we have plenty of time to start designing custom bags to wear over hour heads.

If Haslett is the coach next season, then you may as well say hello to the Los Angeles Diablos. The only reason to keep this scrub would be in a penny pinching move not to have to buy out his contract as well as pay for a new guy. And the only reason for such penny pinching (remember Benson has already cut food services for the staff and several other cost cutting measures - thats why Sully went to the press room to get a snack) is he is going to sell. Stink up the city so the city tells him to leave, which is the only way out of his contract with the city barring a missed greenmail payment.

This does not bode well...

I don\'t know why people think that Benson can move this team over night. Contract thru 2009, The NFL wants new blood running a team in LA not Benson, not to sure if NFL really wants to lose a foot-hold in New Orleans being they like the Super Bowl there so much. Really the only way Benson can move this team before 2009 is the state tells him to get out.

Or if he pays back the money he was given. Benson has a buy out in his contract. He can move if he is willing to give up some money.

Ultimately its going to have to be the State to let him out, then they\'ll have to agree on what is fair buy-out/settlement. I think its clear the State wants the Saints and the Saints want to stay despite this \"negociation\" that is going on. This is buisness nothing more nothing less. Benson is a great buisness man and he is doing what he does best. The only problem the State really has is that they want new management running the team... he the state got that they would bend over backwards for the Saints. Now the question is what is ment by \"New Management\", is it either from the organization stand point or owner on down. The problem is that Benson is a hands on owner and doesn\'t like the thought of giving up control to anyone over this/his team, example: firing of Randy.
Benson was on the right track when hiring Randy, the best move he did since he first owned the team... but when he realized that ment he may not be in on every deal made he canned him... HOPEFULLY, Benson sees the error he made and corrects it. I think highly of a man who admits when he is wrong and corrects it.
We can debate this issue until we are blue in the face but the Saints aren\'t leaving, at least not this decade and by then Los Angeles will have a team beating up on our Saints.
GM such as Randy back would be great for starters in my opinion, demote Lomis back to his jobby job, but my gut tells me the State wants new owner. Personally I like the idea of the Saints becoming what the Packers and or Celtics are, owned by the investors/fans. They are owned by the fans and the players play for the fans not an owner.
My other gut feeling is that Benson isn\'t selling anytime soon... but his smarts may prevail and shake the organization up this off season to gain more leaverage with the negociations with the state.
