One thing is becoming clear, Griffin won't make it to the practice squad. So we either keep 3 QB's or cut McCown loose.

Well he'd better step it up because Fitz ain't gettin' it done. If he keeps stinkin' it up I would not be the least bit surprised to see them try and pry Griffin away from the Saints. Especially if he keeps playing great in the preseason.

I wouldn't be surprised. Fitzpatrick blew chunks in the preseason game against the Cardinals yesterday. 6 of 14 with a 3.4 ypa and a 14.6 passer rating. I didn't even you could get a 14 passer rating.

I think you're right and I think that may have had more to do with why Drew didn't play than his oblique. Pretty risky decision to go with a second year UDFA over the journeyman. I'll bet the coaching staff wants to make absolutely sure before they pull that trigger.

I think thats absolutely correct. McCown is a known. He's a journeyman but he's an ideal back-up. He can hold the fort for a few games until the starter returns.

Griffin is a bit of an unknown but his upside is obvious, and probably obvious to all 32 teams as well.

Anyone know the snap counts of McCown vs Griffin?

If Griffin shows signs of developing into a good Qb why trade him think about it a lot of former 1st round picks are out of the NFl not even backups.Point is Saints lucky to strike gold then thank your lucky stars an tell teams like the Texans to up grade the scouts who work for the team.DREW is 35 not 25 not 30 he has depending on how he takes care of himself 3 to 4 years at most at a high level. Why trade griffin at this point lets see if hes another Warner or Delhomme or a Romo all who were not drafted.:bng::handguns:

It doesn't take a genius to see that this guy is our next QB. I think he could be better than Drew. He reminds me of Peyton Manning but not as easily rattled.

I didn't say the Saints would trade him. I said the Texans might try to get him by trade.

A few have said it earlier...RG1 won't make it to the Practice Squad.

I'd love to have RG1 take the #2 spot, let McCown walk, and free up that extra 53 spot for an additional S/LB/TE/RB. A 3rd QB can't contribute to special teams very well, unless we start converting McCown into a coverage gunner. That would be a hoot and a holler to watch. McCown can contribute elsewhere in the league instead of eating a roster spot here with RG1 still developing; McCown's talent-ceiling has well been since past. That phrasing sucked but I'll leave it; you get the idea.
