Refs calling closer Pass Interference Only Help Saints

I'm real excited watching bits of all the pre-season games

yes there are a number of flags thrown on the secondaries
I hope it continues and not just in pre-season

Last year the Saints were mobbed by the "elite" defenses

we didn't get off the line well and the timing was off on some key throws

With the refs calling things close the Kuechly, Talib and Sherman's of the world will have to play fair

I would rather see a lot more flags - lik they do with holding
that break up the game - then receivers mobbed because it's unpopular for the refs to call it (2013)

Our air assault can only benefit in this situation
especially with some new speedster

+1, right on. I thought I was the only person on the planet who thought Luke Kuechly got away with a lot of holding (lol).

Having a burner like Cooks definitely helps our cause.

I agree, and it shouldn't hurt us too much on the back end of our defense either. I don't have any numbers in front of me but I can't think of very many PI penalties we got nailed for last year.

Watch Lewis and Vaccaro
They get to the ball and take the angle
Not drape and hold

Kuechly's mobbing on Graham on a goal line stance in Charlotte last year was so bad, no flags
Even the broadcasters all of a sudden went mum

Worse than on Gronk

Brees also has a knack for throwing to held receivers

Doesn't matter as long as a ref, umpire, field judge and/or back judge has an apathy toward pulling that flag more than 3-4 times a game, then teams like Seattle will hold all game long and play the house odds...

New Orleans would be foolish to gameplan expecting to draw flags...

Especially when you got this kind of Bullshinski geauxing on...

It won't help us if they only called it when it's on us.

On the other hand, the networks seem poised to jump on the story if it continues. I suspect they're going to be keeping a close eye on PI calls and non calls.

You're right though, the Saints shouldn't plan for it. If the league does crack down and calls more PI then the Saints offense benefits. If it's just lip service then the Saints are in the same place they were last season.(which isn't a bad place to be)

If we are going to get a penalty make it a good one. :nutkick:

I agree, don't game plan for it but if that's what happens great

Our receivers need to learn how to fight off the line
Can't we get some all pro retired receiver to coach us on that?

The Wall Street Journal article on pass interference has Godell fuming too

when it's so obvious you finally have to do something about it
