Joe Morgan catching up in receiver battle

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I think Meachem is as good as gone. Love him for all that he's done for the Saints over the years, but he can't get off the training table. Keep Colston Cooks Stills Morgan Toon Seantavius Jones on the practice ...

Keep

Colston
Cooks
Stills
Morgan
Toon

Seantavius Jones on the practice squad, and Tanner is a phone call away.

I think Meachem would probably get picked up pretty quick by a team like the Cardinals or Lions who could use WR depth.

I love Meachem, especially for his blocking but his speed seems to have been slowing the last couple of years. Imangine being a defence having to cover Stills, Morgan and Cooks. All that deep speed would open everything underneath for JG, Colston or a RB.

Don't trust Morgan because of his injury history as he's just too fragile...

I'd move him for a seventh round pick as we do pretty good with WR picks there...

I think Meachem makes the team, the Saints will probably go with 6 WRs. If they go with 5 then things get interesting. I still think with 5 that Meachem makes the team, with Toon and Morgan battling it out, edge to Morgan in that case.

we love Joe. He is a 110% all the time. i know he would have caught that ball Cook missed in the end zone. he would have laid out for it. whats not to like

can he stay healthy? that is the only knock on him

True but with only 10 catches in 3 seasons, that's a pretty big knock.

I just don't get what everyone sees in Toon.

Meachem has likely played his last games with the Saints in light of the cost of his contract and the rise of the young talent on this team, such as Brandon Coleman, Seantavius Jones, and Toon finally developing. Those are some really tall receivers. I will wish Meachem the best with another team. Tanner is the odd man out yet again.

He's big and fast, and aside from one bad game last season, he's always played well. I don't get why so many people bash him all the time.

I don't understand either. He's developing as fast or faster than Lance Moore, Devery Henderson and Robert Meachem did. I guess some are convinced that the Colstons and Stills are the norm instead of the exception
