Sorry to be sour grapes after a win, but damn it!!!

Benson told Kenny Wilkerson before the game that he would really rather not buy out Haslett's contract if he can avoid it. Thus, Haslett still has a chance. The Saints have shown they can play with ATL and Tampa. 7-9 and Jim may be back. Things are not looking good. The win yesterday probably ensured that the Saints won't have a top 5 pick in the draft, Haslett has a ray of hope if they finish out the season well, and the fact that Benson is considering keeping JH shows it's all about the money - thus making me feel far less certain about the team's future in New Orleans.

I\'m right there with you WHODAT, but this win was special. Maybe cause I was in the stands, but this feels lke a totally different win than the Kansas City game. The defense dominated Dallas. They put the game away. The offense made enough key plays to keep Dallas from having an opportunity to catch up. I am bummed about losing draft position, but when the game was over I was actually glad we won, cause we won the way we should have been winning all along with the talent we have. If Jim Haslett stays though, I will never forgive myself for being happy about this one.

Loo the sad fact is this, the saints showed some genuine character in the closing stages of the game, this is what endears teams to their supporters. This is why we watch the games. If your single minded mission is to see the regime change, and the high draft pick, then stop watching.

What will be will be, don\'t let your armchair strategizing interfere with your love of the game. While you may have valid points in a strictly business sense, supporting your team is not strictly business.

Threin lies the problem for you and those like you........

I am not a big fan of Hasletts regime, but unfortunate as I may be, I can\'t help loving the response our guys showed to adversity. I realize that to your detached way of thinking I am like a crack addict, just wanting that next hit, but to my way of thinking, if they can do it once they can do it again, and if they can do it again, then good things may start to happen.

I realize that this scenario has been played out before, the psycho girlfriend example is applicable, but what do I do if I still love her?

Famous last words.

That\'s exactly why it feels different.

I love the game of football and I love the Saints, but I will never put a single game above either. If the long-term goal is to see them succeed, if we all feel fairly confident that the current regime cannot lead the team to success, then why would I rejoince in a victory that looks an awful lot like the meaningless wins we\'ve had for the last four years that may help to ensure the coaching staff stays?

If the Saints finish 5-11, then you may look back and say, \"see, it was no big deal, enjoy it next time.\" But if the Saints finish 7-9 and Haslett stays, you can be damn sure I\'ll be here saying exactly what I\'ve been saying for the last month. Lose boys, lose for the future. Winning at this point ensures mediocrity. Let me ask you, if the Saints finish 7-9 and the coaching staff stays, what will be you prediction for next season? If it\'s better than 8-8 or 9-7 at best, you\'re plum crazy.

Here\'s a question for ya... what if they go 5-11 and we still have the same coaching staff? I hate to say it but I\'m thinking Haslett ain\'t going anywhere. Venturi and McCarthy might be gone but it\'s beginning to look like Hasbeen is here for a while.

Then, at least we have another high draft choice to mull over before we select(insert name of d-lineman who would be available in the third round) that we select number 8 overall and lament away another season.

I can also see that.
BUT,
I feel even if that happens Venturi will be replaced, and McCarthy maybe. Pastbelly speculated Benson may fire all of his assistants and Haslet may resign. I can\'t remember what other owner did the same thing but its possible.

If Haz does decide to stay, I just hope we get a solid OC and a solid DC to at least give us a sliver of hope, albeit a miniscule sliver. Someone mentioned Fassel and Wannstadt as possible coordinators. I doubt it.

But I\'m gonna try and stay positive... Haslet is gone as well as Venturi and McCarthy.
