Saints rookie Brandon Coleman's Monday practice opens Sean Payton's eyes
this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I just don't see them cutting a vet like Meachem for a project like Coleman. Then again, Meachem has never impressed me. But, if Colston were to go down, that would leave 2nd year Stills, rookie Cooks, 3 year project ...

I just don't see them cutting a vet like Meachem for a project like Coleman. Then again, Meachem has never impressed me. But, if Colston were to go down, that would leave 2nd year Stills, rookie Cooks, 3 year project Toon, Morgan coming off a blown up knee, and UDFA Coleman. Just not likely.

If Coleman is taking 1st string snaps, could they just be evaluating how well he does with Brees instead of McCown/Griffin, since that's how it'll play out in the regular season? All of our bubble receivers (Meachem, Toon, Morgan, Coleman, etc) making the 53 will come down to who has the best chemistry with Brees, I believe. In that bunch, Meachem has the most chemistry...but I would absolutely love, love, love for one of the youngsters to snag that final WR spot.
Another thing the consider: maybe one of our NFC rivals have their collective eyes on Coleman, just waiting for him to be cut. Freakin' vultures, man... |
