What did we learn: This just in...the Saints' starters are pretty good. New Orleans played most of its starters in the first half against Indianapolis, which was the AFC South and a playoff game last year. The result was a 20-10 lead at halftime. The saints were effective on offense with quarterback Drew Brees and his backup Luke McCown each playing one quarter. The Colts offense sputter against a first-string Saints defense that flew over the field and was able to get consistent pressure on quarterback Andrew Luck.

Welcome back: Brees, in his first action of the preseason, led the Saints on a 13-play, 80-yard touchdown drive on the first possession of the game. He had a 10-yard scramble on a third down. He also threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to fullback Austin Johnson.

Midseason form: Brees only played one quarter (14 minutes, 28 seconds to be exact) and completed 9 of 14 passes for 128 yards and two touchdown passes in the first quarter....

Written by someone on a deadline or anxious to get to the bars. Grammar & spelling errors, choppy sentences...just overall poor writing.

I'm just glad our starters looked good and played well. Mistakes? Sure, but overall a good showing for them. I am not unhappy with the performance.

If UDFA DT Zach Kerr is released and the colts try to get him on the PS we need to make a serious effort to sign him. he eat up every player we put in front of him in the second half. we talked about him before the draft. he would add some really good depth to NT position and his upside looks good. he might making resigning bunkley a mute issue down the road

Really liked this kid when we were discussing draft, prospects; he'd be a great add to the mix of our d-line...

Kerr is JP's guy, he looks like JP said he would. He killed our back-ups.

Re: POSTGAME SAINTS BEAT COLTS 23-17

Players that stood out for me were:

1) Keenan Lewis - Pittsburgh fans are gonna be even more pi$$ed we signed this guy away from them...

2) Patrick Robinson - Quiet night because his guy was blanketed with very improved coverage...

3) Kasim Edebali - Start rotating this guy with Galette, Now -that sack of the colts QB inbounds just before the sideline was a wow play...

4) Jarius Byrd - That closing speed was impressive; just stay healthy and that secondary will be out the box...

5) Tim Lelito - He should have started with the first unit, but Evans lobby of Goodwin may have been a tell; need to start looking for two cap-friendly guards and we'll have maintain an elite line...

Players that disappointed me:

1) Curtis Lofton - same adjectives as before - lost, confused, slow, tentative - big hole in the middle; damn that contract...

2) David Hawthorne - he's a bull and can hit, but he's slow in diagnosing and attacking and exposed when paired with Lofton...

3) Kenny Stills - obviously the decision making in bringing him back was flawed; he could be a major weapon down the stretch and post season and rushing him back is fool-hardy...

4) Stanley Jean-Baptiste - he's gonna be a real project; that was a bad flag to draw and he's got to show improvement week-to-week so he can get on the field more consistently...

5) Akiem Hicks - he's in his third year and needs to demonstrate more discipline and technique than he had last night...

agree with all and I might add...
Toon-not disappointed, but not impressed. That deep ball was defended well, but Toons game is to make that play. Not saying he should have, but he could have.
KRobinson- Not seeing that burst and balance as much as I'd hoped, but I was expecting a lot.
AustinJohnson- we can go with him at FB and not miss one beat
Dimeke-I like what I see

Re: POSTGAME SAINTS BEAT COLTS 23-17

I liked the #44 cb last night although he got beat over the top(no safety help on that play), the ball was thrown perfectly in his defense. I could definitly see him on the practice squad.
As far as Lofton and Hawthorn ILB is a soft spot on a very stout D. I didn't see either of those 2 play good last night.
