Kenny Stills reaggravates quad injury
 

INDIANAPOLIS – Receiver Kenny Stills re-injured the quadriceps that has plagued him throughout the preseason during the New Orleans Saints' 23-17 victory over the Indianpolis Colts on Saturday night.

Neither Stills nor coach Sean Payton gave any estimates as to how long he might be sidelined.

“Not much to say. It’s the same injury I was dealing with before,” Stills said briefly on his way out of the locker room.

Stills has now suffered at least two setbacks after originally suffering the injury while working out with quarterback Drew Brees and others during the offseason in San Diego. He first tweaked the quad again on the first practice of training camp. Then he was limited until this past week, missing the first two preseason games.

Stills finished with zero catches on Saturday, though he made a terrific effort when he almost reeled in a deep pass from Brees. The ball was knocked loose by cornerback Darius Butler. It’s possible Stills was injured on that play since he was seen leaving the field soon after.

There were no other known injuries that occurred Saturday. Outside linebacker Junior Galette briefly left the field but returned. The team said he had the wind knocked out of him.

Fellow receiver Brandin Cooks also sat out after battling a stomach virus earlier in the week. Cooks told reporters that he felt better but the coaches decided to hold him out. Brees later mentioned that it will be important for him and Cooks to get some good practice snaps in together during the next two weeks since they still haven’t played in a game yet together.

Stupid quad injuries are tough because they just won't go away. I hate to say it but this could really mess up his whole year.

Same thing happened to lance Moore in 2009, he only managed to play in 3 games the whole season - one being the Superbowl

Yeah, this doesn't sound good at all. Sounds like Stills will probably be inactive for the first few games or so.

Might start the season on the PUP.... it gives guys like Coleman and Jones a greater chance to stick.

Quad injury doesn't sound serious but it lingers for a long time. This is a major setback. He rested 3 weeks. Came back for one or two play and reinjured it. Tells me he is going to be out for extended periods of time

I think PUP for 6 weeks. Hopefully I'm wrong...

We can't place him on PUP since he practiced, unless the rule has changed.

Maybe that IR designated to return though?
