no kicker is getting old. the saints need to get serious about this position. ever since heartly hurt his hip we have been playing this game. a playoff team needs a good kicker.

Meachem is a bigger turn up for me. I thought he looked ok.

As for Champ, I suspect the kids drained Bailey for all he was worth, which is fair enough, but i'd have like to have seen him stick around. ..

In a way, I like that we gave up on Bailey. We gambled, lost, but aren't going to spend half a season trying to fix it.

I am not so sure about the going for two on every EP, but we'll see I guess.

I am more worried about CB right now than kickers. if PRob goes down we have no CB on the roster that have shown they can play outside. as it was i was hoping champ and PRob together would equal a whole season.

Many of these cuts sound like Loomis is about to perform more magic with the cap. Don't be surprised if some of these folks get re-sign.

but, back to the always going for 2 and fourth downs inside the 35... factoring missed FG's and projected potential for 6 instead of 3 and 2 instead 1, we would break even at only a 44% success rate, plus we'd save a roster spot

ask phili about the 30 yard er they missed against us in the playoffs. speaking of him he got cut, 4th rounder if i remember right

Alex Henery, he did well for them. just do not ask for kicks over 50 yards 50 percent-er from that range. but inside of 50 he aint shabby.

I'm betting they have a kicker already in mind. I'd also bet Champ's on speed dial should the need arise... Oh yeah, I hear they already have a call in to Sam...

Ya know how Payton feels about kickers that miss kicks. Graham missed a PAT and Dimke missed a 54 yarder in the 4th preseason game. They both missed kicks in practice. Is it really a surprise they were both cut? We knew some kickers were going to be available after cuts and so did Payton.

This is not good at all. We're unraveling before the season even starts on some situations. I feel the pattern continues with us and Atlanta. We can't say we are ready to take on Seattle especially since Brees hasn't even worked with Cooks in a preseason game.

Considering how much Bailey was inactive in training camp and preseason his getting cut shouldn't have been a shock to anyone.

I am more surprised that BOTH kickers were released than I am by the Saints releasing a 36 year old safety.

What does surprised me is that neither of the back-up QBs have been released; unless I missed it.

There's no question in my mind that Payton was mad about both the kickers. If you have a house cat, and it's acting up, being obnoxious, what do you do? You throw it out the door and let it stay outside for the night and make it sleep under the porch. Then you let it back in the next day and it will be nicer and very contrite, and it behaves better.

That's kinda what I think happened with the kickers. I think one of them will be back with us before long.

I thought we'd keep Bailey for sure. I guess Sunseri will be our nickle back. They must've sung Bailey's praises to motivate PRob.

Sunseri will be lucky if he is active on game-day.

Bush/White will come in on nickle situations.
