So you believe the 2004 Saints can win the Super Bowl?

It is a difficult concept, I know. It\'s generally defined as delayed gratitude. People who become doctors and lawyers understand it. It\'s the idea of having to put off immediate salary, for example, to spend 10 years in school... of course when you get out of school your earnings potential is 10 times what it would have otherwise been. Some people rush into the manual labor field after high school. Nothing wrong with that - the world needs ditch diggers. Some of us want to be more successful, and realize that you can\'t have your cake and eat it to.

Just as it is hard for you to understand this concept, it is insanity for me to believe that 2 more wins this season is more important than getting a coach in here that can make this team consistent winners with a real shot at a Super Bowl. But, the world is filled with dreamers working line jobs I guess.

The game of football and the game of life are not one in the same, as you would make it sound. Winning football games may be insurance to their jobs, but I could give a rat\'s ass about that, nobody gives a rat\'s ass about mine.
Work is a neccesity for me to live, football is nothing more than entertainment, and just like watching the movies, if I can\'t root for the bad guy to win, despite the fact that I know 99% of the crap out there will have the guy with the white hat riding high at the end, then you are impeding on my entertainment.
And no, the Saints can\'t win the Super Bowl, I gave up on that around week 4 or 5. My girlfriend isn\'t going to be a model either, so I guess I should kick her ass out the door too, eh? Would allow me to \"upgrade\" at the \"position\", no?

The waiting drove me mad....

No actually the Rams are 5-8 if the Saints win out they have the tie Breaker. Also the Rams play Philly there last game which they will probably lose.

Well, if you\'re only goal is to be with the best looking woman you can find, then yes, but it\'s not all about looks I would assume. Likewise, the Saints aren\'t win at all costs - or in this case - lose at all costs. I want a team that is competitive, that entertains me every weekend (and not in the sense that I\'m laughing at how bad they are), and an organization I can be proud to support and proud to have represent my hometown. The Saints are none of those things right now, so I want change above a few wins that are ultimately pretty meaningless.

Not to knock anyone\'s opinion, but some people can\'t see the forest for the trees Who. Logic is rarely a factor when it comes to this team. I think most know a few insignificant wins at the end of another terrible season won\'t help anything, but they want it for the sake of seeing the team won. They want it cause on paper it makes the record look better. They want it so our names won\'t be at the bottom of the NFC. Even though they no that it will do NOTHING to help the team long term, some people like paper champions. They like to say \"At least we didn\'t get swept by Tampa and at least we didn\'t get beat by Delhomme and at least Vick didn\'t run for 100,\" while we mire through an impossibly terrible season again. And while we watch local here Nick Saban get courted by the dolphins and our team does nothing, again. And while there are several valid coaching candidates out there. So here\'s to those who hope for meaningless wins, I hope the spector of a season similar or worse for the foreseeable future keeps you watching this team.

Tthere\'s no way to really know if the problem is with Haz. I understand the desire to get rid of him -- I doubt I\'d lose any sleep -- but he can\'t block or run or pass or catch from the sidelines. It\'s been opined that the team has given on up him, but I\'m not certain that\'s the case. Does a new HC fix the problem whodi? It doesn\'t appear to have accomplished much here in Dallas with the Cowboys...and I don\'t think Jim is making all the personell decisions by his lonesome. That being said, I do think Venturi needs to be gone, and McCarthy\'s only saving grace, in my opinion, is that it\'s hard to call a game when you\'re playing from behind -- ALL the time.

No false starts in the last two games. Has Jim become a better coach, or have a few players on the team finally managed to remove their heads from their azzes? I don\'t think I\'m missing the forest, I just believe it\'s easy to say \"kill \'em all and let God sort \'em out\" without looking at every tree in that forest.

C'mon Man...

Logic? Logic would ask the questions, \"Who will take the head coach\'s place for next year?\" \"Who will we pick up in free agency and in the draft next year?\" And logic would want specific answers to base a logical opinion. Since not a single person can answer those questions, logic would not adhere that we would be in a better position if we lose the rest of the season, we would simply increase the odds of change, whether it would be for better or worse. What\'s to say that, if we lose out, we end up with a higher draft pick and are able to aquire Derrick Johnson, only to see him tear his ACL in the preseason and be out the rest of the season?
Like I said before, we can agree to disagree on this one, I guess. I understand why you feel the way you do, but I don\'t agree with it. So I\'ll go dig my ditch now.

Like I said saintfan and Black, I am not trying to knock anyone. I told you before Black, I can see your side of it, I just see it differently. As far as head coaches go that would do better, Nick Saban and Romeo Crennel. Saban purely for local ties and improving fan base and relations in Baton Rouge, and Crennel cause he has two superbowl rings under the best HC in football, and his defense is still good with a wr at cb. Free agency, I like Ken Lucas at corner. Everyone mentions Drew Brees. I\'d trade for Kitna. Walter Jones will prob be a free agent LT from Seattle I think we should take a real look at. What if Deuce tears his ACL(God forbid) what if Horn does? You can play that what if game with every player in the NFL, doesn\'t have to be a rookie draft pick. So unless Johnson has a sign over his head that says \"I will tear my ACL as soon as the Saints draft me,\" I am willing ot take my chances on him. Noone else on our team(except Mitchell a year ago) has torn their ACL, I\'ll bet he won\'t.

Oh and Saints, Parcells first year is proof of what a new coach can do. Look at Lewis in Cincy, people think we are more of a pushover than those perennial losers. Lovie had the Bears more than competitive til they lost their starting qb. So I am willing to take the chance of the unknown than stick withthe horrible known.

I understand how dumb \"what if\'s\" are, because they are unfounded, but many people here like to point out that we should root for them to lose, in order to raise our chances of being a better team, through the results of losing out. Well, we really cannot specify what those results are at this point, so how do we know we\'ll be any better next year? Isn\'t that a \"what if\" as well?

If Parcells can tank in Dallas (which he\'s in the process of doing) then Saban or Romeo or anyone else could do the same in New Orleans. They are no more likely to succeed than they are to fail. If there were a formula for this sort of thing we\'d know about it, but there isn\'t, and losing on purpose has never been my style...I can\'t even stomach the thought of it.
