Tampa Game/Howdy

OK....so I finally got tired of the kindergarten that is the nola board and came to where the big kids play. Hello to all and pardon the length of my first post.

First, I'm going to the Tampa game. Where will the Saints fans be and where do the players load the bus? I would like to try and see some players as that may be the only thrill left in this trainwreck of a season.

Now....you may want to ignore the rest of this post as I wax poetic about the future of this starcrossed franchise.

AB: I have always liked him, even though I see his faults and have never felt that he could put together any sort of a playoff run. (That's the goal, I think.) His mistakes are magnified by the defense, but that works both ways. How many games are we three and out? It's amazing, really. AB seems like a good dude who is a bit flaky and has a fragile psyche. I don't see him as a guy people look to in times of trouble. His mechanics are getting worse (coaching would help). He has a great arm, but his accuracy seems to be diminishing and he throws into coverage EVERY SINGLE TIME. He never steps into his throws and seems to feel pressure before it gets there. (The OLine has made him gun shy, I'm sure.) The cowboys game was it for me....AB looked terrible and I've officially had it. We need to get a new QB. The sad part: Bouman's not the answer and O'Sullivan would have been a nice project to get a look at. I would love to see Volek as a Saint. His pocket presence in Monday's game was far beyond Brooks'. It will never happen. Oh well...... Drew Brees? Trade AB for Eli and pray that he comes through? I don't have answers.....

Haz: Probably too emotional to be a head coach. He always looks confused on the sidelines and he doesn't seem to inspire his players unless he throws a tantrum. Hasn't been aided by two of the worst coordinators in the league. He also has a non football guy in the GM seat, so he is basically on an island. Looks like we'll get one more year of him to save 6 mil. He just doesn't seem to get his message across, which is the most important aspect of a head man in the NFL. Total frustration.

Venturi: His schemes don't work. He never blitzes at the right time. He is not qualified to do this job. Every time a QB drops back to pass, you know that it will be completed. We have the worst run D in the league over the last 3 years. Every QB we have faced seems to complete around 70% of their passes. It took Vinnie T to make us look good whoopee. I don't think the players believe in his coverage schemes. Can't stop the run or the pass...... Who will replace him?

McCarthy: The worst OC in football...period. Probably as responsible for the devolution of AB as anybody. He never moves the pocket while the O line has shown that it can't hold a pocket for any length if time. Think about this....we can't score in the first qtr. Most OCs have 15 plays scripted to start a game. What does that mean? It means that with these players, Mike can't put together a formula to get a 1st down on the first drive or to put any points on the board early. Those horrid 1st Qtr stats fall squarely on his shoulders. It hurts the D, it hurts the morale of the entire team. The Saints never throw the deep ball, they have boxed AB into making plays on 7 yd slants. This is an offense for a Tom Brady type....not AB. The 2000 Saints aired it out 2-3 times a game. We have speed on the outside, yet we try to play a possession passing game. You have to take some shots. By the 2nd Qtr, the oppenents D can creep up, making the run game and the short passing game less effective. (Assuming they aren't in the prevent to protect their 21 point lead.) This guy has not gotten enough of the blame. GO AWAY MIKE. YOU ARE TERRIBLE. He will never get another OC job. Mark my words.

Loomis: Purely an accountant. He knows nothing about football. You can blame Tom for that.

Wow, being a Saints fan is hard. But, that's why we love em.

Son, that is pure poetry.
