An intentional grounding penalty would also have taken them out of FG range. Just sayin.

I agree. I don't understand why he wouldn't have had a hot read in a situation like that. He had to know that was coming regardless.

Throwing it away doesn't have to be intentional grounding.

I realize that. I'm just saying that there is risk in throwing it away, as well. Maybe if Drew had had some decent blocking, it wouldn't even be an issue.

Re: Message to Drew Brees...

Brees made several good decisions in throwing the ball away under duress. There was a time where he would have tried to force the ball on those plays and would wind up with an interception.

Re: Message to Drew Brees...

You guys are missing the real issue here. If our O-Line can't pass protect better than they did today -- our $100M quarter back is going to the hospital.

Today was mostly on the O-Line. Like last year, when they couldn't run block to save their lives. Well, at least they learned how to do that in the off-season. It's like they can't walk and chew gum. Disappointing.

Re: Brees

Seriously?!! Our freaking O-Line needs to pass protect. Game manager is just a bunch of BS.

Re: Brees

Brees is still a top notch QB in the NFL, but things appear to be changing. Brees has never done on the road what he does at home, which is normal, but that gap seems to be widening. It also seems like his deep passes are not as accurate as they were in the past. Maybe the line has something to do with it, maybe a true replacement for Devery Henderson has not been found, who knows. The way the running game has picked up, it would be reasonable to believe a guy like Brees should be hitting those deeper routes with more consistency, what I am noticing are more check downs the past couple years.

Please understand I am not trying to imply Brees is close to being done, but he appears to no longer be that superior elite quarterback, especially on the road.

Re: Message to Drew Brees...

This really has nothing to do with brees or jimmy. Brees airmailed it because of the ppressure. It was well over jimmys head. Nobody discussing the real issue. The playcalling!!!! You had finally started gaining an advantage before the int was thrown. Ingram who I have been highly critical of has gashed them repeatedly.... over and over. And then on a first down play instead of a formation that assists brew you go to a shotgun look with no running option....RUN DA DAMN BALL!!!!!
