I'm perturbed because we sunk a ton of money in a TE who drops the ball and is only healthy about 2/3 of a season and a DB for some stupid 3 safety scheme when we could have used the money elsewhere. We could have gotten players to beef up our LBers and O line which were shaky all through last season. We could have focused on bringing in players that we could start building on up front in the trenches where the game is won or lost.
You can have the highest paid backfield in the world but if your guys up front can't grasp the basic principles of tackling and blocking then its a waste of money. A good front can make up for a shaky backfield but a decent backfield can't make up for crappy line and Lber play.
We won, yea, but we made another red shirt QB look elite and got taken to OT in our own house by a ****tyt team.
Brees, all by his lonesome, gave the Bucs 14 points. That's a problem.
Brees also is the man who leads the comeback, especially if his mistakes create the hole. That's why he gets a pass.

I agree with you because I am very disappointed in Jimmy Graham especially since he got paid. The drops are unacceptable! Right before he was hurt the Saints threw to him 3 times in the red zone and we racked up three drops and three and out.

I also feel the Byrd deal is gonna cream us in the coming years. He may end up dead weight and we won't be able to upgrade positions because his contract is back loaded and guaranteed. After reading Buffalo fans about Byrd, they were ready for him to go because he wanted more money and since he was paid (the last time), his performance declined. I just think we could have gotten a stud OLB and a veteran O-lineman with that money and got a lot more for our money.

Byrd will be Loomis' albatross.

Win now with Drew mentality is gonna make for some lean times in the coming years.

FWIW, I think Drew is injured in some way.
His deep passes have sucked this season.
Meachem could have had 3 TDs if the passes were there today.

We're in dead money territory and it's only gone get worse...

Everybody has been praising Loomis and his creative ways to find cap room these past three seasons...

I'd rather have seen some leadership from him and him tell Payton and staff to coach up the youngsters as well as seen him take the lead on some of these questionable draft pick moves...

As great as Payton can be in some of his decisions; he's really floated some terds in his picks and personnel moves like his double reverses...

Drew Brees never had a Dan Marino arm. His skill is similar to a surgeon. He can touch pass, shovel pass and throw deep. His deep passing has been reduced because we have moved more to control ball and we're attempting to establish running game.

I honestly feel players like Dan Marino had TOO strong of an arm where so many passes bounced off receivers and through hands. Marino was powerful.

To the noodle-arm crowd, again, when was Drew's arm ever stronger than it is now? A ton of other things go into QB accuracy and effectiveness. One element is time in the pocket, something that has diminished since 2011.

Since he has been a Saint, Drew Brees brought with him the ability to make things happen, all by himself. He's a game changer, and Saints fans are super spoiled. When those sparks he creates go bad and he throws an INT, he comes back and fixes the problem. Sometimes we fall short. Regardless, we never realize how many times his arm wins games for us. YES he gave away 14 points today, but YES he brought us back from the brink.

Criticism? Sure complain all you want. Drew Brees is the only player with gigantic contract who has continued to play at pro level, uninjured. In fact, he plays through injury and doesn't complain. What does the criticism do? Nothing because we have no other options available AND there is no other player we can go out and grab to replace Drew Brees who can do a better job. End of story. That's why it's a moot point. We got the QB we rode in with and will have him a few more years now.

And to think...I was just happy we finished a game and got a win.. Chill the **** out and let the rest of us enjoy this. You'd complain if you won the lottery. Jesus.

Lotta' truth in this post (Marino would give you a concussion if he hit you in the back of the helmet ... there are stories, ). I would go to war with Drew Brees ... and I mean "real war", not a football field because I'd probably get him killed out there on one of those, . If any QB out there is gonna' correct his own deficiencies & "bring you back from the brink", it'll be #9, IMO. Even Brady/Rodgers have paled in comparison as of late ... P. Manning still remains in the running, but there's no denying Drew.

Saints fans have had it really good under Payton/Loomis with Drew and I am truly envious. I think it's more a fear of returning to the days of mediocrity/obscurity when DET/NO used to compete for the "doormat of the league" honors, or something similar, than actual complaining going on.

If anyone is gonna' get it done and correct what's been going on thus far this season, it's the team NO has in place ... you guys have true, proven leaders IMO. There's a lot of things that go on in this league that influence a team's progress and if anyone can weather the ups & downs, it's the Saints.

Just sayin', .

Re: Gotta love karma

We have paid this organization for over 40 years and stuck by them through thick and thin. I imagine most here including me will continue to do so even when they suck again and have to rebuild. I think the fans deserve to see a good team on the field and expect the best from them. Nothing wrong Holding them to a high standard. We deserve it as fans.
