Larry Holder, Jahri Evans get at it on Twitter

Criticism of on-field performance from fans and the media is part of the package when you play professional sports. But New Orleans Saints Guard Jahri Evans has taken exception to an analysis of his play in the Sunday's 37-31 Saints win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In his film study, Larry Holder wrote that Bucs defensive tackle Gerald McCoy "chewed up Evans for most of the game." But Holder came back and praised Evans, noting he "steamrolled" two Bucs defenders on touchdowns by Pierre Thomas and Khiry Robinson.

Nonetheless, Evans didn't like the assessment, saying Holder might be gunning for an award for tough coverage. That assertion prompted Holder to post a photo of a major professional award already on his resume.

Gerald McCoy beats everybody. Evans needs to focus on Detroit. He's about to go against one of the best D Lines in football.

McCoy is an A+ player. Evans used to be an A+ player, but I feel he's slipped quite a bit compared to previous seasons. I'd say he's a C+ player right now.

The Evans of 3 or 4 years ago doesn't even let McCoy get a whiff of Brees.

On paper, maybe ... & the potential is certainly there, but they really don't take over a game like other dominant defensive lines ... sure, they'll have a few good series & give ya' fits now & again, but they really don't win games for Detroit like they should and get handled far too often. JMO.

... but yeah, I do agree Jahri has better things to worry about,

If Evans don't want to get chewed up, play better. I still say a stud C would have went a long way this season.I think it would have taken alot of pressure off the O-line against the better defensive teams that we play.

Then, yet another reason Loomis screwed the pooch extending him like he did...

And we need to get a younger, faster, hungrier, nastier guard in there...
