Secondarily: Before I get sent in the wrong direction by tourist sites, what to do in New Orleans while my wife and I are there for four days.
Good motels.
Best restaurants--breakfast and dinner.

We'll be there to watch watch the Panthers get trounced December 7.

I'll still scour the internet for information. I would just appreciate any input from you all.

Please move this to the Ticket Bazaar Form if you need to. I went there and found cobwebs and dust bunnies.

Re: I need Some MB Superdome Information

Stay at the indigo hotel on st Charles. You can easily catch a cab or streetcar. You don't want to be in the quarter. It's a reasonable price.

your budget is going to determine where you eat. If I were you, only try one big meal a day. You have to be in top eating and drinking shape if you want to do more. Commander's, Mr b's, galatoires, for traditional. But you really can't go wrong anywhere. Clancy's is top, too.

does anyone really tailgate at a Saints game?

Spend a whole day at the WW2 museum. Or two half days. Criminal to miss it.

Re: I need Some MB Superdome Information

As a visitor from the UK I have been lucky enough to visit New Orleans on a few occasions and see the Saints play.

On our visits we used to search out some of the eateries that are not too tourist orientated. You will get better value and great food if you spend just a little extra time looking for these kind of places. Try a Po' boy. They are delicious and they will definitely keep you going for the day.

I know this is a tourist type place but we also enjoyed drinking at Pat O' Briens. Great cocktails, if you like that sort of thing. But be careful they do have a kick.

Also, if its sailing on the days you are there, go for a ride on the Natchez paddle steamer and see the Mississippi from a different perspective. Also, it only takes a few hours to complete the cruise which leaves time for other things to do. We also really enjoyed the aquarium.

Its been a few years since I last visited but I assume all the above are still up and running in New Orleans.

Have fun and enjoy the game.

Re: I need Some MB Superdome Information

tickets? i am guessing through the saints office or nfl.com ticket exchange. with their record there should be a better selection than usual. beats chasing tickets in the street corner. unless you like that kind of thing. i use to. enjoy

bar
Erin Rose - traditional old school irish dive in the FQ that is always good. plus it always get written up in mags so at the very least you can talk to people about what an educated well traveled drunk you are

Bacchanal - Sundays night in the Bywater area? call first great wine is good and BBQ? yep but call first before going. nice escape from the tourist area. been there only once and it was relaxing as hell. great BBQ to boot too. any other time it is just a wine store.

whats a trip new orleans with out a stop at the Camellia Grill'. fall off the street car - roll through the door - always a great stop

I still do a Sunday brunch at the court of two sisters on sundays when i am in town

anyone know if Snake and Jake's is still around? have not been there in years but it was a great dive.

Re: I need Some MB Superdome Information

Best Western/St. Charles Inn (Right on SteetCar Line)

Superior Grill (Right Next Door, Fajitas Combination Are My Fav)

Lucy's Retired Surfers' Bar (Closest Outdoor Honest Tailgating Experience You'll Get, Especially PostGame)

Cameillia Grill (Right on SteetCar Line, Geaux for Breakfast, Wait Too Late, You'll Wait)

Cooter Brown's (Amazing Selection of Beer, Right on SteetCar Line)

Le Madeleine's (Right on SteetCar Line, has great pastries as well as French Country Cuisine for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, that's great value, In the Bend, Right Across From Cameillia Grill)

Manning's (Not Far From Street Car Line, Kinda a Tourist Thing, But Well Worth The Visit, Archie gets visiting sports et al personalities there randomly that makes it fun)...

Fat Harry's (Right on SteetCar Line, Good Nightcap Spot)...

Note: Most of the above you can access directly or within a short walk from the street car line...

A couple of French Quarter Destinations to try and include are

Port of Call (Locale Right of Passage, Take a Cab, Take The Street Car Down to Canal/Cut The Cab Ride Down, it's on the Back end of French Quarter, Esplanade Ave)

Snug Harbor (Just a Great Place to Get Comfortably Numb)

Pat O'Brien's, Piano Bar (Geaux Early and Be Sure to Get your Don Mclean, Steve Miller or Billy Joel request early)

There's only one casino downtown - Harrah's...

Whole Foods Market located in the old Arabella StreetCar Station (Take a cab, great place to start on Saturday mornings, spend the day walking Magazine St, plenty of landmarks, fun shopping)...

Magazine Street Stops
Creole Creamery (Flavors You'll Never Fine Elsewhere in the world, Molasses Oatmeal is my Fav)
Mignon Faget (Your Wife Will Love You)
Chocolate Frog (Across From Whole Foods)
Fleurty Girl (Saints Goods Without Roger Getting His Cut, She's Out The Box)
SnoWizard or Hansens for a SnoBall...

WWII Museum - Xan is exactly right; give yourself either a whole day or two half days - definitely a home run experience for all...

Walk down to Mother's for Lunch from the Museum; anything with the Ham or even a Ham PoBoy will be amazing...

Superdome Seating - Some of the lower "terrace" seats have an excellent view and good mix of "non-corporate" traditional Saints fans with a quality unobstructed view...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Did you draw the Saints out of a hat at some event at work, or something.
You gotta be kidding...
