Maybe the problem isn't RR, maybe it's the players. Perhaps Roman Harper and Malcolm Jenkins were a bit better than we thought or at least they fit RR's schemes.

VanGorder was a scape goat for the Falcons playoff flops. The upset blow out against Green Bay and the 2 point performance against the Giants.
I never thought he was the best or anything (he was a falcon, I wouldn't give him enough credit for that) but he wasn't terrible. Since he left the defense has been in a downward spiral. (it's a good thing) |

I think we underestimated their expertise in regards to their skill set. For Roman Harper, the ability to play the run and bring pressure off the edge. For Jenkins, basically giving us another corner on the field. Hindsight is always 20/20.
