Hey Gumbo thanks for reminding us that Haslett is a personnel genius for getting rid of Turley, and Ricky.

Don\'t get me wrong. Our team has made some good very good personnell decisions. I don\'t expect perfection, and there\'s often risk invoved in player moves. I also know that you can\'t keep every single player you want because of free agency. But I just find it amusing that Haslett is put up on a pedestal and thought to have the football mind of Vince Lombardi, because of two personnell decisions.

I find it equally funny that Billy, in this thread, attempts to discredit certain members of this board, myself primarily I would guess, and vindicate himself and Jim Haslett, while simultaneously arguing in another thread that coaching doesn\'t matter.

Hey Billy - was Turley a Pro Bowl caliber RT in N.O.? Answer: according to the fans and every NFL coach he was in 2001.

Hey Billy - who decided to move him to LT in 2002?
Answer: Jim Haslett

Hey Billy - did he play as well at LT?
Answer: No.

Did that effect the team?
Answer: Yes.

So coaching doesn\'t matter? LOL.


I love the consistency of your arguments. Coaching doesn\'t matter, but Haslett made a great move in getting rid of that guy who, crazy or not, is still better on the field than either of our tackles. Nice argument.

I find it amusing that the Saints are put up there as a sports dynasty and thought to be the most dominant team in football history because of 1 playoff victory.

Uhhh yea, I guess some people may think that kind of statement is just an opinion instead of a claim. And some people believe in little green men from Mars also.

Gator, your post makes no logical sense...in my opinion.

Where did he say anyone else said anything??? You were trying to discredit him by saying what he said was false because he didn\'t provide a quote. You don\'t have to when it\'s your opinion of what others said. The accuracy of the statement is not at issue.....it\'s the substance........which is his belief in what others have said.

Yes, it\'s you I\'m calling out on the Turley and Ricky Williams thingy.

Why? Because every move Haslett has ever made you come out and criticize the man and call him crazy. And basically try to use anything as justification for firing Haslett.

In other words .. You like to drag Haslett through the mud at any opportunity.

But, if you had of been GM, we would have went through what the Dolphins did with Ricky Williams. You would have set this team back 3 years with that one move. The fact is you did have the info the Saints front office had and you just ran off at the mouth when the sent Ricky packing.

And on Turley.. You criticized Haslett to no end for getting rid of this CANCER. Now he\'s the Rams\' problem. Again, you had very little to go on other than your \"internet research\" and you were wrong again.

That\'s why I put more trust in the front office than some fan. Even if they are wrong they have more to go on than you.

Haslett and co. have made mistakes just like every other team out there. I\'ll still take that over listening to some uninformed fan who claims to know what\'s REALLY going on.
