Brooks looking for a new deal?

It's also personal between Brooks and Saints management. Brooks, 28, is in the third year of a six-year, $36-million contract, but he maintains his future in New Orleans is uncertain.

"I would like to think I'd be here after all I've done," Brooks said. "I've given them what they want. I've given them 3,000-plus yards and 20-plus touchdowns for four straight seasons. What more do you want?

"It's going to be a very curious offseason, win or lose (Sunday), good or bad. I think inquiring minds want to know."
I wonder if Brooks thinks he needs a Mike Vick kind of deal this offseason? If so, we simply have got to deal him. Read the article, the guy's ego is unbelievable.

I posted that article in the \"just so I can understand the rules\" thread. He calls himself GREAT, and the TEAM is inconsistent and struggling. What a great guy. But I am wrong for not liking him as our qb. Go figure.

To be perrenial playoff contenders maybe? A trip to the Super Bowl? Maybe even a championship? Oh, I don\'t know Aaron. You tell US what more WE want.

Stop stop stop. Don\'t give anyone the impression you are fed up with Brooks\' play or you will get labeled. Aaron knows what he is talking about and we should just believe he is great as he says he is despite what he shows on the field. That\'s the illusion.

LOL whodi. I\'m not a Brooks supporter nor am I a basher. I call it like I see it. If Brooks has a good game, I say he had a good game. If he stunk up the joint, you bet your tailfeathers that I\'m gonna say something. I know he isn\'t all to blame for the demise of the Saints. To say that is completely asanine. I do question however if he is the man to take us to the promised land that we crave so deeply. I don\'t think his calling for a new deal right now is the smartest thing he could do. Maybe he should wait until the Saints season is over to see if he earned it. If the Saints beat the Panthers and make the playoffs, maybe. If the Saints win a couple of playoff games and make it all the way to the Super Bowl asking for a new deal would make more sense. If the Saints WIN the Super Bowl, then by all means, try to break the bank. I just don\'t think he\'s done enough to earn yet another raise or more years.

I am with you D it up. If anyone chooses to read back, I was actually cheering Brooks for his performance in the Rams game. I was tentatively with him and a follower until the lowlights started racking up. Anyone who follows football knows he is not the only problem for this team by far, but he is a problem that needs to be addressed. His play does not match the salary he is making at all. It is out of proportion. And then for him to have a deluded self image of being not just a good qb, but a great one, I wanna puke. I have to question if he has ever even seen a great qb play or if he is just oblivious to the outside world. If he demands any kind of salary increase or extension, we need to dump him. He hasn\'t earned it. I say if we make it into the playoffs and dare I say past the first round, if he is still having games with a qb rating in the 60s and only getting TDs when receivers take 5 yard passes to the house while he throws 2 INTs, I still wouldn\'t give him a raise. And if he can\'t start a game better than 3-7 for 17 yards in every first quarter of every game, we need to play hardball.

Guys,

It\'s obvious why he is asking for more money.....he wants out. He has already stated that he wants out and this is a prime opportunity to try to do it. If he aks for more money and doesn\'t get it, he could be traded. If he refuses to play and holds out for more money, then the Saints will have to trade him so they can actually get something for the money that they will be paying him. It\'s just that simple.

You are correct Geaux. He has wanted out since his \"false love\" remark. He looks, plays, acts, and SPEAKS like a guy playing out the string.

By the way, welcome aboard.

I\'m sorry...where exactly was the part about wanting more money located? I missed it.

You all seem to be reading this as \"I want more money\" or \"I don\'t want to be here anymore\". I read it and see \"I\'m not so sure they want me to stay around here anymore\". There\'s a difference.
