Dangerous time for the Non-Believers

Seems most people are divided on just about everything these days.

And the Saints are no exception!!

Basically, you have your believers vs. non-believers.

The believers see real signs of hope despite our record. They see improvement in the defense and an improving running game with a healthy Deuce. They also know if we win the next game that we're probably in the playoffs where anything can happen.

Then there are the non-believers. Those who gave up on this team long ago. Most of those folks blame Haslett and Brooks and want both gone no matter what. Some even want us to lose so changes will be made.

The non-believers could be setting themselves up for a big fall.

If we win this next game, a lot of the non-believers will be proved wrong.

We will have won 4-games in a row and will have beaten the hottest team in the league by beating the Panthers. And heavan forbid if we win a playoff game or two.

That would be their worst nightmare. All the preaching they have done would then fall on deaf ears. Heck, you might not even hear from some of them again. Let's face it, some folks just like to *****.

It's a dangerous time for the non-believers. Very dangerous.

Look out if we win. There will be folks running to the bandwagon. :P

And then there are the realists. Diehard fans wanting the Saints to win and go far into the playoffs but deep down feel that this is a HUGE feat and the odds are against it happening. There\'s not always a black/white viewpoint on EVERYTHING.

Don\'t even worry about it Cassady. From what I have seen from speaking to Gumbo so far, there is ONLY black and white. IF you don\'t believe what he believes, then you must believe the opposite. If you said something 2 months ago, then by gosh it still better stand today. This is the same guy who in this spouting off says
Quote:

They see improvement in the defense and an improving running game with a healthy Deuce
but when the argument fits him, our running game and defense are terrible cause no way our qb can look bad on his own. Very hypocritical.

saintswhodi --

I think everyone is entitled to how they feel and for whatever reason.

I don\'t think there\'s any doubt some fans want Brooks and Haslett gone. And I think you\'re one of \'em. There\'s nothing in the world wrong with feeling that way.

I personally think you might be jumping the gun a little bit and overreacting.

Heck, even I wanted Haslett gone. I\'m not so sure anymore though.

I think the big difference between us is I want Haz and Brooks to do well and I don\'t think you do. I could be wrong about that. That\'s just the way it seems to me. I mean, you never miss an opportunity to criticize and I\'ve never heard too much positive from you. What that makes you, I have no idea.

One thing is for sure, you want Brooks gone and I\'d like nothing more than for Brooks to shut that talk down and force some of you to go onto another subject.

You said wins are all that matters. Be careful, it\'s a dangerous time for you...l.

So, like I said, some people accept mediocrity out of a talented team. I don\'t. If you want mediocre Haslett, good for you. If you want mediocre Brooks, good for you. I don\'t dislike you for that, I see we have different standards. I see winning around the league, and we haven\'t taken a part in that under Haslett, except for one year. We haven\'t had that with Brooks under center, except when he got to do clean up duty for another qb. The main difference is, I am for change to get better, and you Gumbo are for staying the same and being mediocre. In that way, I guess we will always be different.

Now don\'t get me wrong, since we have beaten 3 teams in a row that we should have been beating for the last 4 years, I want us to make the playoffs. I want us to win this game. When we were 4-8, hell yeah I wanted us to try for Derrick Johnson. Think that wouldn\'t improve the D you hate so much, but now say is improving alomg with the running game, although yesterday they were holding Brooks back. LMAO. Unreal.

Duh-eeee another one of these posts huh? Gee I like to argue. No you don\'t. Yes, I do. No you don\'t.

Billy, sometimes I swear you ought to be a D.J. you keep spinning the same old tired song, over and over.

Thank God this year will be over soon and we can hear it all again next year.

The names change but the subject never does.

Do me a favor man, come up with something fresh tonight. I don\'t want to see 2004 go out with the same tired stuff. PLEASE?

P.S. And you think you made WhoDat crazy! :awe:

Do you only hold Brooks and Haz responsible for this mediocrity?

How about Deuce?

Le Charles?

Gandy?

Boo Williams?

Montre\' Holland?

Ernie Conwell?

James Allen?

Sedrick Hodge?

Donte\' Stallworth?

Starting to get the point? Why do you except mediocrity from every other player on the Saints?

I\'m all for upgrading every position on the team. Not just Brooks. Let\'s replace Deuce with Priest Holmes. Let\'s replace Charles Grant with Peppers.

And while we\'re at it, let\'s replace the water boy, cause I hear he aint\' getting the job done either.

LMAO.... Let\'s just replace everyone....GEEEEZZZZZZZZZZ

I\'m just having a little fun. I\'ve posted every other topic I can think of and haven\'t gotten much response.

I just figured this would get a reaction from more folks.

I like saintswhodiwho. He kinda reminds me of WhoDat. And I haven\'t had my yearly dose of argueing with WhoDat. Geeez, I miss the guy. Whoda thunk it?

I even missed you getting on my azz... :P

I even missed Gator.

And where\'s B&B? And LummOx?

Anyhow, I\'ll see if I can\'t come up with something new and exciting for ya>> LOL

I got no problem with that. But, what do we do with the salary cap? Oh, I got it. Screw it!We can spend all of Bensons money, hell he ain\'t doin it. I still think we can pay all the players in scratchoff tickets and they might get a raise. :rollinglaugh:

P.S. Just so you\'ll know, I liked your thread on Bockwoldt or however you spell it.Do more like that. PLEASE

... I don\'t understand the \"us vs them\", \"you are with us or against us\" mentality..

... after 5 years, this team should be be much better than it is now... but what we have seen in the past 4 years is a mediocrre team. Just looking at the Panthers injuries, the Saints SHOULD be the Panthers,,,

..it is the fact that, after 4 years with the same core, the Saints are still a + or - 1 .500 team with horrible defense and an inconsistent offense..

..sure the Saints can beat the Panthers tomorrow and go to the playoffs, heck even win one or two postseason games... but in a conference full of 1st-2nd year coaches, teams riddled with injuries, QB carousels, etc. it is more a testament to the mediocrity of the NFC than to the Saints being a good football team that they even have a chance to make it to the playoffs and actually win a game or two.. Heck they are playing a team that starter 1-7 and THEY can make it! Any other year, they would\'ve been out 5 weeks ago...

..and, the only thing this is going to bring, is complacency from the players, the coaches, and the front office... and next year we probably would have more of the same... I just hope that the entire NFC is just as bad as it is this year, so we have something to cheer for this late...

I think the biggest problem is that after so many years of raised expectations and crushed hopes, people are afraid to be too optimistic. I know I am. If the Saints ever win the big one, I\'ll strip naked and dance a jig down my street. But considering the history of this franchise, I think my neighbors are safe. Oh yeah, if we get in the playoffs, then Haslett has earned another year, but if not he should be taking the blame and be fired.

dberce,

I think Gumbo just got my goat. The \"Aaron Brooks is above all reproach\" mentality drove me practically insane. But I had no idea what a Brooks lover I was up against, so it\'s best for me to direct my efforts elsewhere, or at least to someone who doesn\'t have the AB screen saver, background theme, fan club poster and pen set, towels, and key chain.

No worries JoeSam. Industrial sized chill pills came in my New Year\'s party pack. I have taken them all. It\'s not something I will even get worked up over any more. Thanks for the warning. I am straight, truly.

Jumping the gun!!!! LMAO. Five years is still too early?!?! I\'ve asked this question over and over - you answered after last season when you said Haslett should be fired. Now you\'re back to saying it\'s still too early. Is 25 years enough time Billy? If they go 8-8 next season and miss the playoffs by one game, then will it be enough time? Ridiculous.

Not jumping on you, Billy, but I think most all of us would like Brooks to shut us up. Therein lies the problem...

I\'ve not been shy with my Brooks-bashing in the past, though I\'ve tried to keep it at a minimum lately. Not because we\'ve won three games and I\'m suddenly a bandwagon-jumper, but because I\'m aware folks are getting tired of it.

Of course we want the Saints to do well, and thereby we want AB to do well. Heck, I wish he\'d play like a resurrected Joe Namath and take us all the way! The problem, and the reason so many of us are on his back all the time, is that he isn\'t playing well. His recent comments in the media are no help.

The point is, if AB would earn his keep by playing like he\'s paid to, I think most of us would be more than happy to shut up about him. I\'m perfectly willing to admit when I\'m wrong, but I\'m still waiting on AB to prove that.

If it happens Sunday, I\'ll be happy...

Perfectly said Mutineer........I think Aaron needs to remain quiet and let his arm do the talking.
If you want the fans to shut up......
YOU SHUT THEM UP!!!!!
Owens said it best....\"if you don\'t want me to celebrate ,keep me put of the end zone\".....
