RAMS WIN.....SAINTS OUT!

Well - we did not take care of business early in the season.

Other teams affecting our playoff hopes did not need to play today; and if they were really trying - oh dear. I wonder if the Jets would\'a gone for the field goal if their playoff hopes had been in question.

Having spat out my sour grapes...................

Well done Saints for the EXCELLENT 4-game run. Have we gotten the nation\'s respect today? Probably not, but surely the Saints did their image no harm. (I bet many punters are not putting their money on Vikings, Jets, Seahawks and some may even be a little nervous about the Eagles).

So whilst I while away the months to Draft day and wait (in vain) for management changes - I will ponder a little of the good things I have written and ponder a little of the bad things about the Saints.

But more than that, I will give a BIG HAND to the Saints. Nice finish lads.

A win is a win is a win is a win. Whatever the circumstances, I\'ll take it - cos the Saints are my team

Lets draft some more defense and beef up the Offensive line.
Truer words have never been spoken.
Hopefully it\'ll be Savage making those picks.

Rick, mick, don\'t let the door hit ya\' ;)

PS: Riley shouldn\'t even get on the team plane. That guy is the sorriest Tackle in the NFL.

I tell you what, Haslett really showed me something this last half of the year. I thought for sure that this team had quit on him. I have to say that I just about quit as a fan. I didn\'t want to be a fan anymore but couldn\'t really help myself. It\'s like friggin crack or something.

Fact is, if this team would\'ve come together a little earlier who knows? I think that if we would\'ve dealt for McKenzie earlier that would\'ve been good for at least one more win. Today\'s loss can\'t be blamed on him. He for the most part played good. The catches that were had on him were tough catches for the most part. I reluctantly accept AB is my quarterback. Mostly because I don\'t have a choice. Face it, he isn\'t going anywhere. He\'s got all the talent in the world, but he really needs to learn what it is to lead a group of men. Right now, I don\'t think those seminars did him any good.

But, this team, including AB, really played hard today. And they really showed some heart these last four games. But we\'re not in the playoffs because we didn\'t EARN the right to be in. Hat\'s off for not giving up though boys. You fought like a real team.

Not trying to be an idiot here, but somebody explain something to me.

As of 5 PM, the Seahawks still have a chance to beat the Falcons.

If this happens, the Hawks take the division at 9-7. The Rams, Vikings and Saints are all 8-8. The Vikes beat us and will understandably make the wild card. We beat the Rams ... so why in the heck do we not we make the playoffs instead of them?

I\'m really not trying to be troublesome or just refusing to give up hope ... I simply don\'t understand. Anybody can explain?

Sheesh! I think . . . . .

TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM OR AMONG DIVISION WINNERS
If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken.
1. If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker.
2. If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.

Two Clubs
1. Head-to-head, if applicable.
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
4. Strength of victory.
5. Strength of schedule.
6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best net points in conference games.
9. Best net points in all games.
10. Best net touchdowns in all games.
11. Coin toss.

Three or More Clubs
(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)
1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
5. Strength of victory.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
9. Best net points in conference games.
10. Best net points in all games.
11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
12. Coin toss

When the first Wild-Card team has been identified, the procedure is repeated to name the second Wild-Card, i.e., eliminate all but the highest-ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. In situations where three or more teams from the same division are involved in the procedure, the original seeding of the teams remains the same for subsequent applications of the tie breaker if the top-ranked team in that division qualifies for a Wild-Card berth.

3-way tie-breaker:
Rule 3: LAR are 7-5; NOS 6-6; MV 5-7. LAR qualify.

Then restart using 2-way tie-breaker; MV 1-0 over NOS

I really do not know!

I think because a 3-way tie means head-to-head goes out the window, and they look only at confernce record. Now why that is, you got me. :casstet:
But I am proud of our little 4 game win streak (the first in 2 years, right?). Now, at the end of the day, we still only beat one playoff team, who so happened to be resting starters, but the old Saints wouldn\'t have even done that. Oh yeah, two playoff teams, counting the Rams. Dang, it hurts to say that!

But we need to sure up the defense and get consistant. If we would have beat Arizona and TB (the 1st time) we wouldn\'t have been in this spot. And if we would have closed out against Minn and Atlanta (the 1st time) we would have clinched playoffs last week.

Some commentators will interpret this as \"bad things happen to bad teams,\" but I think there is just a little bit more hope for the future.

Oh! If the Seahawks lose; then do it with SS instead of LAR!

I guess the NFL\'s delima is that we beat the Rams, the Rams beat the Vikings, and the Vikings beat us. I guess it sort of makes sense. But I still don\'t accept it! If this were college football, you know we would get the bowl invite over the Vikings because we beat the \"hottest\" team in the league and they lost to one of the worst!

Oh well. I\'mma let it go. It\'s over. :(

It\'s strange, the Vikings are only in the playoffs because we won the last 3 games. We are only out of the playoffs because the Vikings lost the last 3 games. I guess that means that we\'re their freakin Messiah and they are our Judas.

If by some chance the Vikes win the Super Bowl, the Lombardi Trophy should make a lengthy stop in Cajun country.
