My Favs/My Goats @ PIT

Couple of my Favorites in that "W" yesterday aside from the obvious of Brees, Ingram, Jordan, & Stills.

Toon - 2 Targets / 2 Catches. 1 TD & 1 Crucial 1st Down. Maybe this game will give both him and Drew confidence moving forward; we're gonna need him. Really good to see.

PRob - Shoulda had a Pick 6 and maybe another INT, but dude was in good position all day in coverage. Loved his break on the ball.

Lorig - Was giving this dude crap earlier in the week, so he must've been reading us trashing on him. His one catch he had a burst of speed and broke a LB tackle for the TD, and he made some good lead and seal blocks for Ingram & PT.

My GOATS

HAWTHORNE -- Garbage. Led the team in tackles, but so what? You know why? They ran it at him constantly because he cannot get off of a block until it's 5-7 yards down field if he gets off the block at all. Any offense will take that in a heartbeat. He is slow and is constantly exposed in the passing game. I am tired of watching him getting exposed in run defense and in pass defense.

KVac -- Not quite Garbage but getting there. Missed tackles are still piling up and the 2 personal fouls on the last drive of the game was just awful. He is becoming the flashing neon sign of an undisciplined butthole. Interception in the end zone was a huge play in this game, but his lapses in concentration and judgement the rest of the game was both sickening and scary.

Kick-Off Coverage -- UGH. We score a big TD. On the next kickoff, opposition takes the ball 43 yards to start at the 41 yard line. Sound familiar? Seems like this happens every game.

Overall, happy about going into Steeler Country and beating a 7-4 team outdoors after Thanksgiving. Should give this team some confidence. Most of the yardage given up was garbage time at the end of the game, so the secondary did a pretty good job overall in my opinion. A. Brown always gets his catches and yards, but he got held down and Bell didn't get his 100 yards rushing...but it's painfully obvious we need help covering RBs & TEs in the passing game.

We need to draft some talented linebackers. Take one early and take one in the mid rounds. Our defense will never be consistent if we don't continuously improve the front seven.

You know, nothing probably will come of it, but Ryan wasn't the only one getting his butt chewed by Payton...

Looked like McMahon was going to be a little lighter in the arse from the butt chewing he got...

Of course nothing will come of it...McMahon's butt is chewed constantly. There's a bunch of hidden yardage out there that we're giving up and a bunch that we're not getting ourselves.

Y'all notice that? On kickoffs, are y'all praying we just make it to the 20 when we return it? And on punt returns, y'all just praying that we don't either fumble it or that we don't get negative yardage?

Just image how much more effective this offense would be if we actually started with good field position from a good kick return. Or imagine how much better this defense would be if we consistently won the field position battle. Or just imagine if we had a Spec Teams Coordinator that knew what the hell he was doing.

Special teams has been crap for the longest. I just dont understand why the ST coach is still here.

Saw a stat the other day that our offense starting field position is worst in the NFL. (We have to go farther per drive than anyone else)

Also saw that our defense is the best (our opponents have to go farther per drive than anyone else, and unfortunately they do).

that cover two really exposes the LB weakness we have as a team. Cam worries me. I fear he will take off running as soon as the gap assignment are lost.

Big Ben is a Clydesdale.

Did we play a lot of Cover 2 the first game against them? We contained Cam pretty well passing and rushing

Plenty of critcism on Robinson for dropping what should've been two picks, but he was glued on his man all day long. If he can play like that for the rest of the season we should have a decent defense.

Vacarro got fat and happy in the offseason but he's not the first guy to have a bad 2nd year after a great rookie season. He'll be OK. I'm not even that worried about the personal fouls - the second one against the Steelers was weak and he got completely screwed on the Steve Smith one. My main thing with Vacarro is I wish we could go back to using him in the rover role where he's at safety, LB, nickel corner, blitzing off the edge, etc.

Patrick Robinson has stepped up his game quite significantly, even if he dropped 3 picks and an easy pick 6

I didn't see him get beat for any long completions and he made a couple nice plays on the ball all game.
