Anttaj Hawthorne is a beast; he would help the inside of our D-line. If we can\'t get a top flight LB, I\'d love to see us get this guy. We still need a corner, but the way MM has played recently, I feel like we\'re doing better at that position.

I agree that corner is not a priority it once was...I like Kevin Burnett-OLB-in the first...If no LB then Dt ot OT

I\'ll go on the record as saying I believe Ronnie Brown will be drafted before Cadillac Williams when it comes to Auburn\'s big two RB\'s. Cadillac has the speed and moves, but just seems a little small (and injury-prone) for the NFL. Brown\'s a bigger, more physical specimen who could be an every-down RB, where Cadillac seems more likely a situational-type player. Brown lacks Cadillac-type speed, but is a superior blocker and pass-receiver.

I\'m not sure I can agree that we should reach for a DT unless a real value pick falls our way (Cody or Hawthorne). I\'m more inclined toward a LB, though the Jets or Denver may decide to undermine us again! Derrick Johnson will never make it to 16th, barring an awful combine, but we still have a shot at a good one. Burnett or Brooks (if he comes out) would be ideal, but Ruud is an intriguing prospect as well (though I\'ll never understand why we passed on Teddy Lehman last year).

CB is still a need, and it\'s becoming obvious that in today\'s NFL greater size is needed at the position. The 5\'9 and shorter CB\'s are just not getting it done, no matter how fast they may be. There are excellent options in this crop, with Rolle, Rogers, Webster, and Perkins being some of my personal favorites. I wouldn\'t complain if we picked up a good CB with our first pick, as our run defense greatly improved later in the season (this assuming we could continue that trend).

With the exception of QB, this year\'s crop favors many of our needs, I just hope we take advantage. We so rarely have before...

Follow up:

After watching the Orange Bowl, Shaun Cody has just jumped up a few notches on my wish list ... I might not be so upset with a DT after all.

yeah, the USC defense is stacked and Cody did stick out as a major force. Also on the Auburn backs, I agree with what you said about the draft order. Brown lacks long range speed, but he has a really quick burst through the hole that allows him to into the second level often. In my opinion he\'s better than Benson, but I\'ve seen him play more than Benson. And no I\'m not an Auburn fan.

I always thought that too. But this summer Brown ran the 40 much faster than Williams.
