Blame it on Abe ...

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; If Jets DE John Abraham was healthy vs the Rams, I guarantee you we're in the playoffs. Jets couldn't get a rush on Bulger to save their life w/out him. [Edited on 5/1/2005 by neugey]...

If Doug Brien could finally make a kick, we are in the playoffs with a full head of steam. Brien isn\'t a saint anymore, yet he is still ******* us.

Wrong. Blame it on the Saints for another year of BS and having to depend on others to get in. For not being able to crack 8-8, for being average for 4 straight years. Blame it on the Saints - they deserve it.

Dang, you beat me to it.
Blame it on ...
Haz, for not getting his players ready to play.
Venturi, for nearly breaking every defensive record on file.
McCarthy, for horribly predictable playcalling.
Loomis, for entering 2004 with Haz, Venturi, McCarthy.
Loomis/Meuller, for not signing a solid FA LB or two.
Loomis/Meuller, for not signing a real 2-gap DT.
Brooks, for his inconsistent play.
Deuce, for showing up fat and slow and mopey.
Allen, for being too slow (if you know what I mean)
Hodge, for being a dope.
Horn/Pathon/Stallworth/Boo/Conwell, for way too many early season drops.
O-line, for the most pathetic season long performance I can ever remember.
D-Line, for a pathetic early season performance.

Hmm, pretty much looks like we have ourselves to blame mostly.

I understand that reality is that it\'s the Saints fault they\'re not in the playoffs, but considering that they really did do enough to get in if someone else would have made a correct decision, then I feel justified in blaming that person too.

Who am I going to blame? Herman Edwards. His team scored a TD on an interception in the 4th quarter making the score 26-21 and he went for 2. Stupid. I knew then that it\'d cost them and it did. Once again a coach is playing numbers rather than getting all the points he should be getting. Had he just kicked the extra point, the field goal that tied the game would have won it.

I say there are only two instances in which a coach should choose to go for two. First, at the end of the game when it is required to tie the score. Second, at any point in the second half when your team is down by 24 points or more or by 16 points or more with less than 8 minutes to play. Otherwise, just kick that dang ball!
