Does anyone know the status of Joe Horn's contract. Is it up? Is he a free agent?

He has one year left on a 3 year 13.5 million dollar deal.

Saints will try to re-work the last year so we dont take a 6mil$ cap hit

I believe he is scheduled to make like 5 mil next year after making around $600,000 this year. Final year. Get her done!!!

Peter King or Pete Prisco did an article about it earlier this year and the value he was bringing to the team this year as opposed to the money was making. He wa spaid well last year, and this year was cap friendly, about $600,000. But next year is when we get the big hit, which he totally deserves.

I hope that Joe is amenable to restructuring the contract. Hopefully the Saints will do something like extend it 3-4 years, give Joe a $7 mil signing bonus and backload the contract starting in the 3rd year. That way Joe gets his guaranteed money now and the cap hit will go down to about $2 mil a year.

Agreed. This would also likely keep Horn in New Orleans for the remainder of his career, which most of us want (and believe he deserves). I grumbled about his contract earlier in the season, but he\'s really earned his keep better than just about anyone else on the roster. Pay the Man.
