Kenny Vaccaro's "new role"

Now that Payton has said Kenny isn't technically benched , he just has a "new role", what do you think that new role is?

IMO I think it means he's going back to the big nickel slot guy.

So if that's the case, who are the starters at FS and SS?

Warren and Ball perhaps?

I reckon this?

Sanford/SS
Warren/FS

I really wish Sunseri was healthy...

His new role is bench warmer.

Thats kinda what I was thinking, but the darkhorse in this equation might be Corey White.

Experts projected him as a safety, and he'd probably make a pretty good SS or FS, or in today's NFL he'd actually be a #2 FS, but with more physical attributes. Kind of a cross between a free and strong.

Corey excels at the nickle CB position, so replacing White with Vaccaro may not be the best move.

Maybe Vaccaro in big nickel sets, and White in standard nickel sets?

If Ryan goes to the three safety most of the time like last year and it works; I'm gonna be pissed off.

If it took them 14 weeks to make a "working" change

I muddled around with that "Corey White-to-Safety Dilemma" for a bit, too, but backed off...he's got good size & pop for both safety spots. But like you said, you wouldn't want to take White out of a spot where he's helping out this defense.

I actually muddled around with SJB getting his noggin' head into the secondary somewhere to free up White & Vaccaro to give our defense and team more flexibility with the safety positions...but then I got really, really mad.

Try him at MLB in a Urlacher-eqsue move? What do we have to lose?

He can't tackle.
