Jones is fast and can hit like hell, but the knock against him is that he doesn\'t know how to use his speed to his advantage. HE OVERPURSUES!

Here\'s a clue. Draft round 1 and 2 to fill a need.
Most GMs in the league will tell you that\'s a sure recipe for failure. You end up with second or third round-value players as your first round pick, and third or fourth-round players as your second round pick because you\'re doing what is known as \"reaching\" to fill a need, rather than A) taking the \"best player available\" regardless of position, or B) trading down to get picks at the range in the draft where your \"need\" players should be taken. Drafting for need in the first and second rounds also leads to salary cap problems--you eventually end up with a lot of second round types you\'re paying first round money, etc., because you\'re paying them based on where they were drafted rather than on their talent level.

It\'s interesting that you would call for the Saints to use their first pick strictly to fill what is perceived as a \"need\".....since that is EXACTLY what led to their trading two first round picks in order to move up to take Jonathan Sullivan. They boxed theirselves into thinking it was imperitive that they select a DT with their first pick to fill a \"need\", and with that parameter set they felt they couldn\'t just sit with the two picks and take the two best players available at those spots because the \"first round\" DTs would be gone by then.

As for Tebucky Jones....I\'ll say one thing for him; I think we had some problems with it this season, but I do remember that it was pointed out that when Jones joined the team as the FS and Bellamy was moved to SS (this team makes less distinction between the two than many other teams in a lot of it\'s packages), replacing Knight at SS and Bellamy at FS (which was back when there was more of a defined role for each), the number of \"long\" pass plays was reduced significantly. Perhaps it\'s that Jones\' strengths lie more in taking away the deep balls and less in being the guy to ball hawk or make the big hit near the line of scrimmage, and as such he\'s being used in that manner.

You\'re a pretty smart guy. Thanks...

Oh...and they were just making the point last night that Henderson will certainly have a role next season, because it\'s just about a mortal lock that Jerome Pathon won\'t be here anymore because of his cap figure. They (the Saints) won\'t want to pay him what his contract calls for to be a number three receiver coming in in three WR sets to play the slot, but he\'s good enough to be worth that figure or even a little more as some other team\'s number two on the field for most plays.
