SI - All Rookie Team... Pierre Warren?

Best NFL rookies 2014: Teddy Bridgewater, Aaron Donald, more - NFL - SI.com

Safeties: Pierre Warren, New Orleans Saints/Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Green Bay Packers

New Orleans' defense has been a hot mess most of the season, but Warren, the only undrafted player on our list, has still distinguished himself by picking off two passes and allowing no touchdowns all season in 348 snaps. He's been burned deep from time to time, and he needs to develop as a run support player, but there's a lot to like there.

Clinton-Dix was even better, allowing no touchdowns and picking off one pass in 889 snaps. The 21st overall pick, he's also proven to be a strong player in blitz packages and when asked to stop the run as a box player or force defender.

Wow, didn't see that coming. Congrats Pierre!!!

With Warren and Byrd we could see a lot more success in our cover 2 packages next year.

+1. I already see a positive going into next year. Add Sunseri to the mix and a key FA acquisition or two and we are back.

Which begs the question, why the hell did our FO waive him?

Do any of the coaches even know what they are doing? He was easily our best defender in preseason and probably regular season too.

We decided to keep an extra SS in lieu of a FS, likely because of the physical demands of our SS's.

We already had FS's in Byrd, Bush, and Sunseri but only had Vaccaro as a true SS. Ball is primarily an in the box safety.

Ball was probably a better option (on paper) due to the number of safeties we had that could play FS (Byrd, Bush and Sunseri).

Warren is a pure centerfield safety.

Good for this young man, I like him a lot. Think there's a strong possibility he is a nickel defender next year with Bush getting cut/traded.

That's fair enough when you explain it like that, I just hope Warrens done enough to prove to the coaches they made a big mistake letting him go originally

He and Byrd could make a fantastic coverage tandem next year in obvious passing downs.
