How Saints WR Brandin Cooks plans to take his game to the next level

A fast start to New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks' rookie season had an abrupt ending.

Cooks, who had 53 receptions for 550 yards and 3 touchdowns in 10 games, sustained a thumb injury in Week 11. The injury required surgery and Cooks was placed on the season-ending IR. Nearly two months later, Cooks has been attacking the weight room and the field with the same type of intensity that made him a first-round pick a year ago.

"I've been cleared for three weeks," Cooks told FOXSports.com in a telephone interview. "I've been catching balls, lifting weights and getting back into it. I'm looking forward to hitting it really hard right after the Super Bowl ends."

Exactly what you want to hear.
If we can get the lie sorted and get Brees that additional time to throw downfield i cant wait to see Cooks and Stills together. Stills didnt hit his stride till late in the year so the two of them with Graham is a very promising trio.

I think this guy's the real deal, and I think he'll prove to be more versatile in his sophomore season.

i pray SP find his toy in this years draft to replace Sproils so Cook can be more of a WR and those quick screens are not so easy to defend.

that is why i am looking at late round multi purpose players in the draft like:

Rannell Hall WR/KR/RB Central Florida SR 6005 200 4.45/4.38

he is a WR that filled in exceptional well at RB. add in excellent KR skill helps keep Cook rested.

player like IMO would impact Cooks game big time.

Jalen Saunders?

"Light on his feet with a fluid stride. Good balance and body control. Nifty, conscientious route runner. Has speed and twitch to separate vs. man coverage -- sinks his hips with ease and pops out of breaks. Quick, soft hands.Slippery after the catch. Eludes the first tackler and can turn a short throw into a long gain if he gets a step."

I'd love to see jalen get some reps on offense, imagine Cooks, Stills and Saunders running routes, the Defense wouldn't be able to keep up, providing Brees gets enough time in the pocket.
I'm interested to see Toons development, we need a guy to start filling that Marques Colston role, dependable big bodied receiver.

I am looking for a Spoils type of player here to help cook on day 3

i like sanders but he does not have RB skill. you need a player that defenses respect as a RB when they are lined up in the backfield. right now we do not have a RB/WR that commands that kind of respect.

so take a late round flier on a kid that has shown he can play RB and has that skill set. But in truth is a WR. tell ya this kid aint bad at all

Plus he would fill a void. WR play in the middle of the field. which is not were cook is going to make a living just yet

nope looked again and we do not have that player on the roster

Espn has a lot of short clips as a starting RB for UCF. This kid is what you want for depth

day 3 steal written all over this kid

tell ya u never have enough players like this. the more you have the more ways you have have to free cook up,

i like sanders enough to include him as a solid option in the late rounds but remember he is smaller than Cook

Jalen Saunders 5087 165
BrandinCook 5096 189

compared to
Rannell Hall 6005 200

keep all 3.

Halls RB experience and skills might make Travaris Cadet days numbered. plus i am willing to bet he would see the field more than Cadet. Plus he would help free Cook up to be more of a WR than he was last year.
