we all had a very hard season to go through i think. especially since most of us believed we were headed for a good season. after the way we played through the first 12 games i think most of us thought there is no way we will win more then 6. we were upset and had every right to be. we were angry at the team for letting us down again this year and the coaching staff for telling us how much we had to look forward to and coming out with those type of performances.

but then the last 4 games and how we played. how we fought and showed how much heart we could have. we all for the most part jumped on board. i didnt think we would win that last game and then this team after the last three games playing better then we thought they would saved their best for last. they came out and played the best game of the season. we all were praying for the playoffs i think believing we had a shot at doing something after that game in carolina. i was in the chat room with halo and others as that kick went through from the rams. and it hurt. it hurt bad.

but in the end it didnt seem to me like the same old end of the season for us. i had hope. i was filled with feelings i havent had since the night before the first game of the season. i think we all hope for the saints success. but when they arent playing the way we know they can and they arent giving us all they have we are going to show our displeasure. we have that right as fans. especially after so many seasons of this. but when you give us something to be proud of we will be there with you. even if you ended up on the outside looking in. all we asked for was to have that all 16 games and when you gave it to us we were there with you.

This year was really a hard one...I mean..we had the division in a chokehold..on paper...even with the bad draft..we all convinced each other..and ourselves, that they were the right moves to make..and that we could only benefit from the akward draft picks...

Then reality hit..and we had to watch as the entire division..less Atlanta, fell apart at every seam... Tampa looked wasted..haha..carolina looked dead..and we looked retarded..This was our year..it was all in place...Stallworth was supposed to really light it up..and take his place as our new number 1 reciever ..Henderson was suppose to shock and awe us all with his blazing speed and playmaking skills...our rookies were supposed to add a much needed punch to our run defense...AB was supposed to be at his prime..and Deuce was suppose to lead the NFC in rushing...

What the hell happened?

Are you kidding me?..look at our division..look at the entire NFC..and we can\'t even manage a wild card?...

Heck yeah it was heartbreaking...and..eye opening..if we were ever to get into the superbowl...this year had to be the easiest time..and best chance ever...are we truly doomed to eternal mediocrity?

That\'s more like it spkb. If you read carefully and dont misinterpret (this is a hard thing to do when simply reading text and not physically talking to the person) this is what I was pushing in my post. I\'ve read a lot of posts here and other places that pushed the bounds of team criticsim and poured over into team destruction. I, llike you, am a idie hard Saints fan who bleeds the black and gold. I think (and this is the reason for the comparison) that one thing we have in common with the Packers , besides a team Hall of Fame, is that we have the BEST fans in the NFL. I just really got burned by people who tore up the Saints for the decision to re-hire Haslett. And no mistakes about it, I wanted to fire him too. But that f\'ing team busted their ass the last month and showed me sometthing. Yes, I agree they need to play like that every week.

My hope is this: By playing their ass off and not making it becasue \"another team didnt win for them\", they will respect that they control their own destiny and need to crush every team they play (a la Indy).

The Saints learned a great thing theis year, they learned that as in years past, not only do they need to do great early in the year, but they need a great December. They did the former in the past, they did the latter this year. Let\'s ho-pe they put 1+ 1 together and rock and roll next year.

I never doubted the fact that people are Saints fans (true fans). To be a Saints fan all these years you need to be a true fan. I was just tired of reading things from fans that were contrary in my mind to supporting the team in these hard times with the state and all. The last thing we need is financial distress for our team if we dont want to lose them.

And believe me...it will be a long time before another pro sports team ever comes to New Orleans, especially if we drive out the Saints (the Hornets record and empty home stands speak for themselves)

I have no doubt we are all fans here, I just hate to hear another fan (or fans) do what every other person who isnt a Saints fan does....tear down my, and our, team.

It isn\'t about tearing down the team..it\'s about getting mad at the lack of urgency to get this team winning right now..name a team who needs it more?....

we have sat back, year after year of average football by a supposedly above average team...and clapped our hands..and stomped our feet...and all that stuff..only to have our faces spat on by an owner who is more concerned with increasing his personal wealth, than putting together the very best team that he possibly can, so that the fans..who have always responded to success, even in it\'s smallest state, with funding from our pockets...and loyalty in our hearts...could feel like we are a part of that winning ingredient..

I can\'t tell someone how to be a fan...nor can I tell someone this team is worth investing money..time..and loyalty in...

because ultimately..when this team holds your loyalty..it is a very bittersweet thing..a one sided relationship if you will...

And ..it\'s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel..with a lying, cheapskate owner driving the car...

I\'m not a cheerleader, I\'m a fan...If the Saints are sick of hearing fans gripe..start winning..simple as that

I\'ve listened to your rant about what horrible creatures that those of us who offer a negative opinion about the Saints and that we somehow are low, knuckle draggers because we feel that 8-8 is somehow not what we were led to expect or desire.

I venture to say that you are rather young (20 something or lower). I also venture to say that you are also quite naive. Why, this year would the Saints organization, have \"learned something\" that they didn\'t know already? What was it they learned? Other than the fact that they needed to get off of their collective asses and DO something to earn the millions that have been squandered on them for that mediocre play; I, for one, see nothing they learned. Unless you mean that they slipped it to the FANS again.

Unlike you, I have been a Saints fan since 01 November 1966 when the franchise was awarded. I watched the first and I mean literally the first organized practice the Saints had. I\'ve held season tickets when I could afford them and gone to or watched or listened to over 80% of the games played. I didn\'t get to see the \'67-\'69 seasons as I was vacationing in sunny SE Asia courtesy of my Uncle. That\'s the same time that Commisar Clinton and his communist friends were in Russia saying how crappy it was to be an American. And Johnny Kerry was making up stories about his \"heroism.\"

My point is that you continuously believe that when I or someone else points out that 8-8 is NOT a WONDERFUL, OUTSTANDING accomplishment and that coaching, player execution, and halfwits like Leon are being touted by themselves as \"GREAT.\" I take exception.

Do I want the Saints to win?? ABSOLUTELY!! In Spades. Can they win with what they have? NO!! They are too inconsistent and poorly disciplined. Can they get better? YES!

I commend you for your optimism. I condemn you for your inability to accept that there are those of us you see what this team is about and say so. It\'s not to BASH the team, it\'s really wondering what it will take to make the team a contender. I personally have waited for the history of the entire franchise. I don\'t see much improvement over the past 4 years.

Take off your shades and look at what is really there.
