New Orleans Saints sign QB Luke McCown to contract for 2015
 

Backup quarterback Luke McCown will return to the New Orleans Saints for a third season, setting up another clash in training camp for the No. 2 spot behind Drew Brees.

McCown, who would have been an unrestricted free agent in March, signed a one-year deal worth $970,000, the league minimum for a player with 10 years of service time, according to NFLPA records. The deal also includes an $80,000 signing bonus and a $350,000 guarantee, according to a league source.

Maybe, or maybe Griffin just needs a little more time and McCown is essentially the safety blanket if anything happened to Drew

It is only Griffins 3rd year, a lot of QB's don't develop quick when it comes to reading multiple look defenses.

If we were confident in Griffin as the #2, we could have signed him for $320,000 less

Griffin is signed through 2016, and is a RFA in 2017.

You still go to camp with 3 or even 4 QB's.

I believe with guaranteed money and signing bonus we are on the hook for $430,000 either way, so I'm guessing we plan on him making it
