The 87-year-old owner of the NFL and NBA franchises in New Orleans must be examined by three physicians to help determine his physical and mental state, a New Orleans judge ruled on Tuesday.

Tom Benson's daughter, Renee, has filed a lawsuit with her children, Rita and Ryan LeBlanc, to have her father declared incapable of handling his affairs. The suit was filed last month after the trio was removed from Benson's succession plans for the Saints and Pelicans.

According to his lawyers, Benson made a “deliberate, reasoned” decision to eventually leave his wife of 10 years, Gayle Benson, in control of the teams. Benson's attorney, Phillip Wittmann, said they will "probably accept" the judge's ruling but could still opt for a review from a state appeals court.

Saints, Pelicans owner Benson says he wants quick exam

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Hours after a New Orleans judge ordered that he undergo psychiatric examinations by three experts, Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson issued a statement Tuesday saying he wants to do so as soon as possible as he fights an effort by his daughter and her children to have him declared incompetent.

New Orleans Civil District Judge Kern Reese ordered that Benson be examined by March 13. Each side in the case is to choose one medical expert and the two sides will agree upon a third.

I hate seeing the old man go thru this. Flip the tables and make the kids go thru the same testing.

Really below the belt.
For the daughter and her kids , all known as The 3 R's , to do this is really below the belt and does not help their cause.
Their family and relationship with TB is really over.

To have someone by court order to question one's mental capacity like this for this kind of man and all in public is really a low and desperate move.



This really is going to make those around around TB who have put their power play in motion "circle the wagons" to make sure all turns out fine with this examination IF there is a situation with TB's memory.

Gayle made her power move first. She wins!!! Case closed really.
When it is said and done, Loomis, those San Antonio lawyers, and others will all have a percentage of the teams.

All TB's daughter and all the grandkids can hope for at this point is to be cordial , call this mess off , and take a settlement in the tens of millions for the irrevocable trusts.
This also goes for the other grandkids like Dawn Jones who is trying to position herself with Gayle and company.
Mrs. Gayle wants them all OUT!!! Gone. Away from her companies and her life.

Well, one thing good that could possibly come out of this is that if there is any truth to the accusation of Gayle or any of Executive manipulating him or abusing their privileges, it may be discovered through this process...
