Saints restructure Byrd's roster bonus...

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; The salary cap is nothing but an accounting exercise each year. I ignore the stories of what it is and where teams are. At least I do most of the time. An accounting nuisance...that's it....

We have to bring in a veteran CB! We really really need an ILB'er too. Both can be had in FA and then fill in the gaps at DT and O-line in the draft.

As silly as it is, most of us have unjustly put him on a pedestal so high that he needs an elevator obviously to reach it.

after all football is a business and the players want their money now. they could careless about guaranteed contracts and life long insurance. both of which would be huge for the lower range players. but that would mean the big dogs would have to surrender some bones. that is not going to happen. but they will change the rules to prolong their self indulgent life styles at the risk to team mates and the integrity of the game.

if they do care about their team mates or the game that much why should we as fans expect anything different.

i like Drew and have no issues with him. i am guilty of holding him to unacceptable standards. after all he is just a millionaire.

so i apologize for unjustly put him up there.

he now only needs a step stool to get up on the pedestal. it is not nearly as high as it once was.

that should make it easier for all us to accept them as the football player they are. for that is what they are and nothing more.

i am holding the elevator door just encase he changes his mind.

4.8 with Byrd, 830K with PT, 16.2 with Gallette, and Colston. We're already at the cap

Well unless we trade Galette we're eating that money and it's looking likely. I think this is what we've saved:

4.8 with Byrd
1.735 with Thomas
Roughly 3 mil with Bunkley
Colston's number not known yet

Still a long way to go.

I still feel like Byrd is the real deal. We will get quite a bit of productivity out of him. When he got hurt he was still in the process of figuring out the defense.
