Colston Restructure

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I don't think it would have made more sense to cut Colston, he can still be productive and is a mentor for the young WR's, both on and off the field....

I think Drew had a say in whether Marques stayed. I think he would of been pissed if he was cut. Anyways I'm glad he's still with us but I'm still pissed bout Pierre but I would of been über pissed if both were cut.

if he's so f-in concerned, he needs to also restructure his contract. otherwise he has no reason to be pissed.

Congrats to Manning and Brady for doing the right thing for there TEAM.

I'm glad we're keeping him. He wasn't himself last year and I bet it was a fluke. I don't expect the same production from him as when he was younger, but he's still an asset.

Re: Colston Restructure

Obviously we'll know soon, but I wonder if they are waiting on releasing the actual number bc of how significant the cut is

This was on rotoworld:
In all likelihood, we're looking at a straight pay cut from Colston. He was scheduled to earn $6.9 million this season and count $9.7 million against the cap. Coming off a poor season and about to turn 32, he had to do something with his contract if he wanted to stick around. It probably would have made more sense to outright cut Colston, but GM Mickey Loomis has been extremely loyal to veterans. Mar 6 - 10:22 AM

Um, which veterans has he been loyal to exactly? I don't fault Loomis for making business decisions, but to outright call him loyal is just plain incorrect

Shanle, Vilma, Smith, Harper, Colston, Thomas (many thought he should have been cut last year), Meach and Goodwin just to name a few.

Most of these players should/could have been cut before they were. I wish PT would have stayed and I am happy about the Colston move. I wouldn't say he is extremely loyal but he does favor some players because of their history with the team.

I hope he picks it up this year... could be his last.
