Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract

If he was truly insecure about his future and looking to get more commitment from the Saints FO, he should have stated,

"I want the Saints Organization and Fan Base to know that I, Keenan Lewis, am ready to lead this team in its new era of success. I am confident that our FO and coaching staff are creating the pillars of our success. I am proud to represent my family and home town with the Fleur De Lis on my helmet."

If I was Keenan playing and putting the effort like he did, I would want some security as well. It's not like hes asking for more money.
He's not technically asking for more money but he wants to be fully guaranteed, which no team can afford on their cap. To me, he's just not being reasonable, he's overreacting to a few moves. When did he get the idea that he signed a contract to have total team control? I don't feel sorry for him. He's a good player, but nobody has wronged him.

If you have move to be closer to home and put your kids in school and bought a house the last thing you need is getting told you are moving thousands of miles away
I know what you're saying, but at the same time there aren't many jobs that pay what he makes either. Part of what drives the exorbitant costs to sign players these days is the sheer nature of the business and players not knowing what to expect in the future. Between that and this stupid "market value" crap that pays players countless millions more than they are worth because of lack of quality available options, and you get these massive bidding wars.

None of these players are truly worth what they make, but the market says they are, so that's the way it is. That's why I don't shed a tear for a player who feels insecure about whether he might get moved. Does he want to work a regular job then? I'm not saying he should be a robot. If he'd rather not be moved around, ok, but don't start throwing around ultimatum's like the whole universe revolves around you.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Yeah because the Saints are going to let a low value contract on a outstanding corner leave for a 5th round pick. Another person still going on about the Saints long term cap issue when next season they will have around 20ml in free cap space before they make changes to big contracts.

Maybe we should offer and a 4th rounder for Antonio Brown seeing as they need to restructure contracts to have the cap space
