Reggie Bush visits the Saints today. What could go wrong?

For the right money

Come on home Reggie

Re: Reggie Bush

Right money, sure. But right "role" is key.

RB? No way.

Sproles-type role only. Pull the LB out of the box, make defenses account for him.

That's worth a 2yr contract around $6M, $4 guaranteed.

Re: Reggie Bush

I think that will be the idea
Ingram as the main guy with Robinson spotting him and Bush as a change of pace, empty backfield receiver. I was very sceptical when i first heard about this move, but this team needs some older heads around the locker room and some leaders. Reggie has been there and done it and knows what the team is about. Let him come in and be one of those leaders.

I obviously dont know how they are in locker room but most of out offensive veterans(except Brees) seem to be quiet guys,by the sound of the talk coming from the team we need some players in there that demand respect and professionalism from young guys, some players that will crack heads if needed

Re: Reggie Bush

I'd rather have Spiller.

lee909 03-13-2015 07:38 AM

Re: Reggie Bush

On the field he may have a bit more but he will want more cash.
I think the fact the coach know Reggie,he will be shorter term and less cash will give him the edge.

If he can DO more, then pay him more.

Yes, coach knows Reggie. That could work against him too...

It's like talking to an old girlfriend, sure things are familiar in a way but there's a reason it ended the first time.

Spiller or Bush?

Let them race. Who doesn't pull his hamstring wins the job.

I'll take either one...whatever it takes to be top tier again and win another championship.

Spiller is younger and 1 year removed from near back to back 1000 yard seasons

Re: Reggie Bush

From what I've seen of him going to Miami then Detroit, a change of scenery initially does him good, but he slips back into east/west mode once he gets comfortable ... maybe give him a one year deal, cut him, sign him to another one-year deal, cut him again, et ....

Define his role, use him sparingly, get him cheap ... he wanted to be the lead dog in Detroit but couldn't take the punishment, #shrug.

Per Tripplet about 10 minutes ago, NO meeting scheduled for today between Saints and Bush, interest?

Re: Reggie Bush

I just remember the scowl on Payton's face during the second half of that Seahawks playoff game. And Reggie Bush was standing next to him on the sidelines, with his helmet off and this hangdog sad look on his face, and Payton was clearly like I'M IGNORING YOU BRO, DON'T KNOW YOU. That was the also game where the TV camera showed Payton's playsheet, over his shoulder, for a split second, and you could see all the Reggie plays scratched out with a Sharpie. Plays that couldn't be run without him in the lineup.

I think Loomis or Carmichael or some of the other coaches or scouts or staff may want to take a look at Reggie, it's entirely possible. It'd be a great move for the front office, for the low-info fan base and selling tickets, especially the secondary market -- all those '09 Super Bowl nostalgia fans pouring back into the Dome via Stubhub or whatever. Buying beer, rebuying jerseys, all that Super Bowl year nostalgia that Champions Square and the Saints PR machine hypes so well. I could see that.

But everything I saw in Payton's mojo and vibe, in 2010, sounded like he was done with Reggie. Payton has mentioned that Reggie wanted more of a feature role, as his main reason for his leaving....but remember when Payton really REALLY needed Reggie, to be that workhorse feature back, in the end of the 2010 season and ESPECIALLY in the second half against Seattle in 2010, he was not there.

I mean JUST IMAGINE, just for fun, if instead of the infamous "Beastquake" moment with no tackling, what if we had a Reggie razzle-dazzle run for a TD, in the 2nd half of that playoff game? Could have easily ended up, Final Score: Saints 43, Seahawks 34.

saintsfan1976 03-13-2015 09:46 AM

Re: Reggie Bush

Of course the idea of having a "role player" is all predicated on said player willing to play within said role.

If Reggie would commit to coloring within the lines he could be valuable.

Spiller to me has more upside, long term value.

Hopefully any injuries Stiller had has healed by now.
Wait he is Spiller... Mods can delete this. Forget it. :censored:

Yep, remember that a lot too. Will never forget it. Just can't get excited about him. Can he still play, yes, but he is over 30... ehhh

Dude how bad did we need Reggie end of 2010? JULIUS JONES, that's how bad

Spiller is young still, not a lot of tread off his tires. Plus he had a broken collar bone last season, nothing with his knees etc

Give me the cheaper of the two...same type of player...and he's not going to feature so give me the cheapest one and spend the rest on a DT/NT, OG, or ILB

Watch how he carries the ball in his highlights and you'll see why.

Well, I certainly don't mean to bring the thread back on topic, but Reggie signed with the Forty-Whiners,.

Best o' luck RB ... with that fanbase, you're gonna' need it, :).

Re: Reggie Bush

When Reggie left I thought he had become one the best third down backs in the League. But that was 5 years and numerous leg injuries ago. From what I saw of him last year he looked like he could still scoot pretty good but the injury factor isn't going to improve with age.

I always thought he seemed like a good guy and wish him good luck with the rest of his career and his life after football.

Glad we got Spiller.

We have enough water boys running sideline to sideline.

Where did you see that? I see he's lost 6 Fumbles in 5 years. Thats only 1 fumble lost every 137 touches.

Maybe it was special teams?
