I think the plan all along was to extend Brees' career a few more years.

Improving the O-line and run game is the only way to do that. And OMG we already got a great start so far!!!!

I don't think their philosophy is changing at all... except that they are going back to it. We didn't have a TE like Jimmy when we made the SB run. When SP arrived we got some OL and speedy back and went from there... that seems to be the mold we have shifted back to.
