Excuse me? First of all, not only is Brees as accurate as he has always been, but he had the 2nd best completion percentage in the entire league last season. Secondly, the offense is FAR from depleted. With Ingram, Spiller, Robinson and Hightower the Saints have perhaps the best RB bullpen in the NFL, two very good TE's that can actually block and the all-time leading WR in Saints history with a number of long young receivers ready to move up. Oh, and don't forget Brandin Cooks.

As for a Brees decline ... the only decline on the Saints offense involved the offensive line. Bringing in Max Unger at center is a HUGE upgrade. Another year's experience from Armstead and whomever is picked up via the draft will help cement the offensive hole and allow Brees to have the freedom in the pocket to once again be among the very best in every stat once again.

Think about it, we have too many RB's according to some of the "Eggspurts" Watch and be amazed as we unveil the Wishbone next year!! After all after Brees gets traded all we are going to do is hand off every play. Of course we'll change the name of it to the Gumbeauxnnnnn.

Deep throws depend so much on foot plant. I have read so much about lower body stability transferring to accuracy deep. Pressure will shift the weight and affect the throw. Brees is smart enough to overthrow if rushed. But, he he is even slightly forced to throw off the heel (oncoming pressure) the result would have to be a more highly lofted underthrow.

Re: As Sean Payton remakes roster, big questions arise about Saints' future

Have we really gotten worse compared to last year? Let's look at what we gave up.
1
Jimmy Graham - Definitely one of the best receivers in the league. But he's always injured. Yes he plays through it but he disappeared in some important games last year and he dropped?short armed some important passes last year and now we're hearing that he may have had some attitude issues.

We got, An All-Pro center and a first round draft pick plus we dumped a huge contract that was going to haunt us for years.
I think this deal makes us a better team.

2
Ben Grubbs, at one time he was a top notch guard but he was not that anymore but he was getting paid like it.

We got a 5th and another huge break off the salary. Another win.

3
Curtis Lofton, a great team guy and an excellent 2 down run stuffer. But, he's very limited in the passing game. Can't cover and can't blitz.

All we got out of this is cap relief but hopefully the addition of Eberle will lessen this loss of a class guy and a good football player. This move was unfortunate but necessary.

4
Kenny Stills, a great young prospect who looks to have a bright future ahead of him. Apparently there some attitude issues. There was talk at the end of the season from some of the vets about a lack of professionalism. Gotta believe Kenny was one of the guys they were talking about.

We got a starting caliber LB for a great price and a third round pick. Hard to judge this trade at this point but if PTB judged that it needed to be done I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

5
Cory White, Patrick Robinson, Travis Cadet, Tyrun Walker and probably some other guys I'm forgetting.

Meh

6
Pierre Thomas, WAAAHHH.....

I think we take the division.

Re: As Sean Payton remakes roster, big questions arise about Saints' future

Where does this guy get his information about Rita's intentions?!?

If his sources are the local media with him giving quid pro quo on the national media scene, then that's ****ed because the local media is the epitome of yes men to the Benson Entertainment Machine...

If Rita somehow prevails and throws the golddigger to the curve, I'll laugh my collective arse off when she personally offers Payton a contract extension, for life...
